Clerk :from: Donald J. Wileenski, Chairman 0 :Members of the Planning Board 01 Date: July 26, 2023 Re: Comments on the Local Law in relation to amendments to Chapter 280 Zoning, Rental Permits: Transient Rental Amenities Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to cone-nent on this proposed code amendment. Our u.nderstandi.ng is that this definition and prohibition are being added to the cede to better protect the community character of Southold Town. Consistency with the Comprehensive Plan: This amendment is consistent with the Southold Town Comprehensive Plan. Renting amenities for profit In residential neighborhoods changes the essential character of those neighborhoods. They become quasi-commercial properties with the inherent impacts that come with commercial activity, including noise, traffic, and a general disturbance of the quality of life that neighbors expect in a residential area.. Renting amenities in commercial districts can likewise have a negative impact on traffic and create safety concerns where renting of the amenity is not part of the regular business plan or approved site plan for the commercial property. The Planning Board supports the change to the code because the prohibition of these transient rental amenities will. mitigate these concerns. r DE I N'+Cl►NCA R Town Hall,5309 Main Road 'I'Cl►W CLERK R O.Box 1179 JrASouthold,New York 11971 REGISTRAR OF VITAL STATISTICS Fax(631)765-6145 MARRIAGE OFFICER Telephone(6 1 '765--1800 RECORDS MANAGEMENT OFFICER ; ww.southoldtow-nnygov FREEDOM OF INFORMATION OFFICER, sut>p OFFICE F TOWN CLERK TOWN of SOUTHOLD U4,L I M I Bc MC ...........
