HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-05/29/1956320 Meeting of May 29, 1956. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Elipp at Greenport, on Tuesday~ May 29, 1956. The meeting was called to.order at l:~O P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest; Superintendent~ of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ ~Ctark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest~ seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor N~rman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tues~ay~ June 12, 19~6, at ~.30 P.M. Vote of Town Board. Ayes-Supervisor Klipp, Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. At 2 o'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish totthe Town of Southold one new 1956~ 2-door~ 8 cylinder standard model automobile for use as police car. The bids were as follows: Greenpor't Auto Sales, One 8 cylinder Ford Auto at a total price of $1~39.1~ Crabtree-0'keefe, One 8 cylinder Chevrolet Auto at a total price' of $1271.00 Cutchogue Auto Sales~ one 8 cylinder Ford Auto at a total price of $1700.00 Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the bids be p~aced in the hands of the Police Committee for their consideration and report back later at this~ meeting. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Cl~rk; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Kl~pp be and he hereby~ is ~uthoriz~d to enter into a contract with the ~illage of Greenport for the renewal of Fire Hydrants for a term of five (5) years beginning on Jul~ l, 19~6, at a rate of Forty ($~0oOO)Dollars peri.hydrant per year or fraction thereof. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Dem~rest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he h~reby is authorized to purchase a Lifeboat for us~ at the Southold Town Beach. Vote of Town Board : Ayes-Supervisor Kli~p; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Dema~est. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That SuperVisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is authorized to purchase six~y-seven (67) new street signs which are to'match the present posts which are now installed throughout the Town. Vote of To~n Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demsrest. Moved by Supt. of Highways Price; seconded ~by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That inssmuch as the required dedication and release have been duly received~ Map of same duly filed and the necessary papers ~gned~ the Town Board take over and maintain as public highways SsAWOOD DRIVE and MIDLAND PARK~AY~ situate at Southold~ Town of Southold~ Suffolk County: New York. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest9 and Superintendent of Highways Price. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Southold Town Highway Specifications be amended and the following clause inserted therein:- That any person or persons desirous of dedicati~ land for town highWay purposes be required to file with the So~thold Town Planning Board three (3) prints of the proposed layout of such highways~ and that the Planning Board approve such layout~ re- turning one print to the applicant or applicants~ one print to the Town Board and retaining one print for the files of the Planning Board; that the Town Board also be required to approve such layout and so advise the Planning Board; that this amend- ment to the Highway Specifications shall become effective June l, 19~6. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest, Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the Sou~hold Town Board approve the action of the Commissioners of the FSshers Island Ferry District on enter- ing into a bareboat charter with the Interstate Navigation Comp- any for the use of the M/V Yankee from May 15~ 19~6 to May l~ 19~6~ both d~tes inclusive~ with the provision that the charterer shsll h~ve the option of extending the period of the charter for addit~6nal days~ but not in excess of SO at ~he rate of $1~0.O0 per day for the first ~ days and at the rate ~f $100.00 per day for any additiona~ day~ thereafter. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Dema~est. Move8 by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHER~S~ It is the desire of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District to enter into an agreement with the General Service Administrator for the right to Snter and use and occupy Building No. 239~ located at Fort H. G. Wright, Fishers Island~ New York~ Now~ Therefore~ be it RESOLVED. That the Town Board o~ the Town of Southold approve the action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry DiStrict and instruct Supervisor Norman E. Klipp to sign the terms and conditions as required by the General Service Administrator in his letter dated May 17~ 1956~ reference to D-NY-SOS. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install two (2) additonal aerial street lights in the Southold Lighting District said lights to be placed on Poles No. D~+2 and ~$8 on the new state h~ghw~y~ Route 2~ in the eastern end of the district. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Cl~rk and Demaresto Moved by Justice Demarsst; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is ddrected to enter into a contract ~with Crabtree-0'keefe for the purchase of one new 2-door ~edan standard model 8 cylinder auto- mobile at ~ total price of $1271o00 to be delivered at the Police Department at Peconico Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest. A communication w~s received from Mrs. Ann Montgomery requesting the Town Board to proclaim October 23 as United States Day? The communication was ordered placed on file for further consideration.
