The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, May 8, 19~6. The meeting was called
to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp;
Justices Clark and Demarest; Councilman Alber~son: Suoerint nd~

Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read.
Vote of.Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Clark and
Dem~rest ar~ Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board will be
held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport~
on Tue~'d~y, May 29, 1916, at 1:30 P.M.

RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held at the ~illag~Hall
in Gree~port, on Wednesday, May 23, 1916~ at 7:30 P.M. for the
purpose of considering a proposed contract with the Village of
Greenport~ for the furnishing Of fire protection to the Nast-
West Fire.Protection District, for a period of four and one-half
years form July l, 1916o

Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Moved by COuncilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Howard M. Terry of Southold New YOrk, be and hereby
is 'appointed Building Inspector for the To~n of Southold form Mayl~
1916, to January l, 1917,_ as required under Section 303 of the
Multiple Resident Law, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Howard M. Terry be compensated for such services at
the rate of $1~320.00 per year~ payable in regular monthly pay-
ments~ e~d be it further
RESOB~ED. That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate
with~the proper parties as is required by Section 30 Subdivision
3 of the Town Law.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is
instructed to make application to the New Y rk State Youth Commission
at Albany~ New Y0rk~ for a recreational pro~ect for the Town of
Southold from July.l, 19~6~ to June 30, 1957o

RESOLVED:.That the Southold Town Board approves the action of
the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District on entering
into lease License Contract No. DA-19-O16~ENG-~369 with the Depart-
ment of rArmY for a portion of a certain p~re~ of land together with
portions'of the Government owned dock and warehouse and all the
othe~ thereto~ located at ~ae foot of John Street,
New , as shown outlined-in blue on Exhibit A Plan
entitled Government owned dock, New London, for a period of one
year commencing on October l, 19[~, 8nd ending September 30, 1916~
in the amount of $2200°00 per annum payable quarterly in advance
quarterly to the Treasurer of the United States.

Demarest and Councilman ~lbertson.

cial assistance from the Town Board to dredge Wickham's Creek to
allow access to Boatman's Herboro

RESOBVED: Thmt Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be authorized to cohtrib-
half. of the total expenditure up to but no~ to exceed the sum Of
$475.00 in dredging Wic~hams Creek~ at Cutchogue, TOwn of Southold~
N.Y. so as to allow access to Boatmans Harbor.

RESOLVED: That Otto L. Anrig~ Chief of Police~ Town Of S0uthOld~
be and he hereby is authorized to attend the New York State-Youth
Commission fourth annual training program for law enforcement officer~
to be held at St. Lawrence University~ Canton~ New T0rk~ July 29
through August 3~ 19~6, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be a~thorized to issue a
check in the~amOunt of $6~.00 in advance to cover tuition~ ~eals and
roomy and be it further ·
RESOLVED: That the necessary expenses incurred while attending
said conference is a.legal charge against the Town.

RESOLVED: That. the P~lice Report for the month of April be accegted

An application was received by the Town Board for a permit to es-tab-
lish a labor camp in the vicinity of Southold by I. M.~Young & CO.:
~fter considerable discussion it was found that the proposed build'
lng was not in the scope of the House Tra~ler Camp Ordinance. The
Supervisor was instructed to notify I. M. YOung & Co. to tha't effect.
Otto VanTuyl and Edward Nddds appeared before the B~d presenting'
a map of the proposed highly through Mr. Nidd's property at Bay
View~ Town of Southold~ N.Y. The Board decided it should have
approval by the Planning Board of the layout before viewinglthe
highway.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demar&st:
RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be authorized to a~vertise
for sealed proposals to furnish the Town of Southold one new 2-door
sed~n~ eight cylinder standard model automobile~ according to
specifications~ for use as p~li~e car~ said proposals will be oPened
at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport~ at 2 o'clock P.M. on
May 29, 19~6.

"It is the concensus of opinion of this meeting
that it is against the public interest ~o h~e a separate
collection of t~xes in the Town of So~thold and that the Southold
Town Board be notified that we do not wish to change the
present method of collection."

A public he~ring w~s held by the Town Board at Village Hall at
Greenport~ on~ Wednesday~ May 23~ 1956. The meeting w~s duly opened
at 7:~O P.M. in accordance with the legal notice published in the
Town newspapers~ With the following present:
Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest~ Councilm~n
Albertson~ Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The p~rpgse of this meeting was to consider a proposed contract
with the ~llage of Greenport for the furnishing of fire protection
to be £urnished by said Village to the East-West Greenport Fire
Protection District.
The Supervisor read the call of the meeting and called upon any
person present who wished to speak either for or against the pro-
posed contract.
Stanley Corwin spoke in favor of the Fi~e Hydrant Contract. He was
not in accord with the Fire Protection Contract, He stated the con-
tract was un£~ir ~nd the rate of $2.60 was too high and something
should be~dOn~ to h~ve it reduced.
Robert White stated he was in favor of the contracts.
The Town Board stated they would take the matter under consideration
and decided to hold a meeting with the Greenport Village Board and
see if the contract could be revised and the term of the contract
reduced.
