The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman ~.
Klipp at Gree~port, on Tuesday, March 6, 19%6. The meeting was called
to Order at 1.30 P.M. with the followin~ present: Supervisor Klipp~
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest, Councilman Albertson, Superin-
tendent of Highways Price~ Town Attorney Terry and .Town Cl&rk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims
against the Town concluding the Audit work at 2:00 P.M.
Moved by Justice Cla~k; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board : Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark

Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That a special meeting of the Southold Town Board will be
held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenp~t on
Wednesday~ March 7~ 1956, at l:SO P~M.

RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board will be
held at the office of Supervis~or Norman E. Klipp at Greenport~ o~
Tuesday~ March 27, 19~6, a~ L;~O P.M.

RESOLVED: ~hmt the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to re-
quest the Long Island Lighting Company to install one additional
~00 c.p. aerial street light in the Southold Lighting District,
said light to be placed on pole #~ on Oak Lawn A~eo in Southold~ NY.

and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
At 2 o'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published according
to law~ bids were opened for ~roposals to furnish to the Town of
Southold t~o new 19~6 2-door ~-cylinder standard model automobiles
for use as p~ice~cars. The bids were as follows:
Greenport Auto Sales-Two 8-cylinder Ford Autos at a total price
of $175o.oo
Greenport Auto Sales-Two 8-cylinder Mercury Autos at a total price
of $1951.oo
Crabtree-O~Keefe-~Two 8-cylinder Ch~vrolets at a total price of
$228o.oo
Cutchogue Auto Sales-Two 8-cylinder Ford Autos at a total price
of $18OO.O0

RESOLVED: That the bids be placed in the hands of the Police Committee
for their consideration and report~back later at this meeting.

RESOLVED: That a building permit be and hereby is valid for one year
from the date of issuance, and that the Building Inspector.be so
instructed.

RESOLVED: That the action of Supervisor Norm~ E. Klipp in entering:
into a lease with Levines Market at GreenP0rt~or a room situate4
on the second floor of the building with the County of Suffolk~for
Welfare purposes in the amount of $50.00 per month, retroactive to
J~nuary l~ 1956, be approved.

RESOLVED: That the actionof Supervisor Norman E. Klipp in entering
into a lease with the Bohack Realty Corporstion for an office room
for the Zoning Cemm~ssiom. in the Bohack Building_at the .corner of
Main and Front Street, in Greenport, in the amount of $2~.00 per month
as of March l, 1956~ be approved.

The following Bonds were presented to the Beard for approval:

RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM178366, issued by the American Motorists
Insurance Company in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on
behalf of Henry Y. King, be and the same is hereby approved as to its
form~ m~nner of execution and sufficiency of surities therein.

form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties therein.

on behalf of James Pi Kelly, be and the s~e is hereby approved
as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties
therein.

A communication was received from the Orient Garden Club, requesting
the Town Board to make a donation twards the shade ~ree fund.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Albertson:
RESOLVED: That the request be granted the Orient Garden Club to
plant shade trees on Town Property adjacent to highways in
Orient, providing they obtain permission from the abutting prop-
erty owners. For every dollar spent by the Garden Club, the Town
will contribute the same amount up to but no~ to exceed the sum of
$2 0.oo

WNM~EAS~ the Police Committee reported that the lowest bid on
the police cars was submitted by the Greenport Auto Sales, there-
fore be it
RESOLVED: That NormandE. Klipp~ Supervisor, be and he hereby is
directed to enter into a contract with the Greenport Auto Sales
for the purchase of two 2-door sedan standard model 8-cylinder
eutomobiles at a total price of $17¢0.00 to be delivered at
the Police Department at Peconic.

RESOLVED: That the street lighting contract between the Town of
Seuthold and the Long Island Lighting Company, covering the Matt-
ituck Lighting District No. I for a period of one year, beginning
with the first day of April, 1956 and terminating on the 31st day of
March, 19~7, be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board.

RESOLVED:~That the street lighting contract between the Town of
Southold and the Long Island Lighting Company, covering the Mattituck
Lighting District #2 for a period of one year~ beginning with the
first day of April~ 1956 and terminati~ on the 31st day OfmMarch
1957~ be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board;

Valentine Rush appeared before the Board presenting a map of a
proposed highway through his property at Arshamomaque requesting
the Town Board to take over as~a public highway. The Board stated
that when the highway specifications were met the Board would
consider taking it over as a public h~ghway~ providing it comes
up to his south boundary line.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount ef $3~07~.:18, Lighting
District Bills in the amount of $1~37o1~, Fishers Island Ferry
District Bills in the amount of $6~08.72~ be and the same are
hereby ordered paid.
