The SoUthold TOwn Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, January 31~ 19~6. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark, Demsrest and Edwards;
Councilman Albertson; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney
Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,

Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLV~D: That the regular monthly Audit meeting of this Board
will meet at the Office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport
on Tuesday, February l~, 19~6, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote~of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices TuthilI, Clark,
Demarest and Edwardsand Councilman Alber~som.
Stanley.Case and Stanley Simchick, Commissioners of the Cutchogue
Fire Department appeared before the Board and requested permission
be granted them to install a well at the Southold Town Dump, as
the firemen had been called out on several occasions during the past
year to extinguish fires at the dump. Supervisor Klipp stated that
he thought the installation of the well is the responsibility of
the Town.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; secon4~d by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the Town Board direct the Commissioners of the
Cutehogue Fire District to procure an estimate on the installation
of a well'at the To~n Dump, not to exceed the sum of $1,O00.O0
and report back to the Board their findings.

Demarest and Edwards snd Councilman

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Gouncilman Albertson:
RESOLVED: T~at Edwin S. Conklin, Building Inspector, Town of
Southold, be and he hereby is authorized to attend the Fourth
Session of the 19~-~6 School for Enforcement Officers and Fire
Inspectors under the Multiple Residents Law to be held at Garden
City, New York, on Thursday, February 16, 19~6, and be it
further
RESOLVED: That the necessary expenses incurred while attending said
meeting £s a legal charge against the Town.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark,
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Supervisor Klipp~ read a resolution which he received from the Better
Brookhaven Committee.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That pursuant to Section 102 Sub-division I of the Town
Law, the Town Board does hereby authorize all wxpenses necessarily
incurred and paid by any town officer in executing the duties of
his office including actual ~nd necessary expenses for travel, a
legal charge against the Town.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
There were lengthy discussions on matters pertaining to Fishers Island.
Supervisor Klipp stated to Justice Edwards that the Town Board has
no objection to the installation of ten additional street lights in
the Fishers Island Lighting District if approved by the Public Service
Commission. Supervisor Klipp thought the amount of $$O. per light
w~s excessive in comparison to $19.20 charged by the L.I.L.Co. in the
rest of the lighting districts in the Town. Justice Edwards indicated
that the rates were approved by the Public Service CommiSsion ~nd he
decided to procure the r~tes. Supervisor Klipp inquired of Justice
Edwards if any attempt had ever been made by the people of FoI. to
have the FoI. Ferry District law changed. Justice Edwmrds stated that
to his knowledge no such action had ever taken place. For JustiCe~
Edwards information Supt. of Highways Price showed the amounts that have
been spent on the highways on F.I. for the past several years ~nd the

improvements that have been made on the highways.

MINUTES OF ANNUAL MEETING OF SOUTHOLD PARK DISTRICT
HELD FEBRUARY 28~ 19~6.

The meeting was called to order, by Chairman Nickles.
Mr. Nickles was elected chairman of the meeting.
Chairman appointed E.~ L. Donahue~ Secretary of the meeting.
Call of the meeting was read by the Sgcretsry.
Secretary read the mi~es, of Annual Meeting for 19~ held Feb. 28~ 1955.
Chairman Appointed Fred,Pti,nee and'Dr. Robohm tellers of the meeting.
Tellers were sworn in by Lester M. Albertson.
Chester Jankowski was nominated and seconded for Commissioner for
three years.
The vote on Commissioner was 6hester Jankowski 19 votes.
The Chairman declared Chester Jan]kowski elected Commissioner for
three years.
The vote on'a proposed appropriation of $6~O00.00 for ~he maintenance
of the park properties for the year 1957 was as follows:
Yes --- 27 No --- O
Chairman declared the appropriation carried.
Motion made~ ~nd seconded that the Park Commission go on record
and ask~the~State Highways Department to expadite the planting, of
trees to replace those removed in Southold Village during the
constru6tio4 work on Route 25.
Motion was carried.
Motion was made and seconded~that CommiSsion meet a committee of
the American Legion to discuss matter of expenses incurred by them
i2 any in a 'study 0f plans for a Community Hall project during
195 .
Motion was carried.
Motion was made that stickers of identification be issued free for
automobiles of park district residents f~z use of park proper~y
at Founders Landingand ~ charge of One Dollar be collected from
summer renters using Founders Landing.
Motion was made toadjourn.
Motion carried.
