HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-08/23/1955-FIMEETING OF AUGUST 23, 19~5. The Annual Fishers Island meeting of the Southold Town Board was h~ld on Tuesday~ August 23~ 19~. The meeting was h~l~ed to order at 2:00 o'clock P~M. wi~h the following present: Supervis~Klipp; J~stices Tuthitl~ Albertson~ Clark~ Demarest and Edwards; Su~erintenden~ of Highways Price; Town A~'tsrney Terry and Town Clerk Booth, also officials of the State~ County and Town and a delegation of FiShers ~Island residents. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice T~thill: RESOLVED: That the reading of t~e'minutes off. the previous meeting be dispensed with. Vote of Town Board: Ayes,Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~~ Albertson, Cl~rk, Demarest and Edwards. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Just~e Cl~rk: RESOLVED: That the~regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday~ September 6~ 1955~ at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justiees Tuthill~ Albertson~ Clark~ Dema~est and Edwards. Supervisor Klipp inquired if there were any problems the Fishers Island people.would like to discuss. The Question was asked wh~t could be done to stop fishermen from Connecticut taking lobsters from New York'State waters? Assemblyman Edmund Lupton suggested that a loca~ conservation officer be appointed to patrol the waters. He also stated that the Civic Association take the matter up with the Conservation Department at Albany. Supervisor Klipp stated that he would take the matter up with Alfred Tucker~ Superintendent of the Marine District. The rat situation on Fishers Island was discussed as to how to g~t.~rid of them. A number of the Civic Association explained one way to rid the Island of rats w~s by placing feeding stations with poison food in several sections of the Island. He also staSe~ that the Civic Association ~is doing its part in combatfng the situation. The question was brought up what was tO be done about the mosquitos on Fishers Island. Mr. Co T. Williamso~ of the Suffolk County MosqUito extermination~Comm~ssion state~ ~they were doing everything possible to exterminate them. Lee Ferguson stated that in case of an emergency~ some means should be provided whereby persons needing hospitalization could be quickly transported to New London~ Conn. Supervisor Klipp stated that he would take the matter up.with the U. S. Coast Guard and try to work out a solution to the problem. Adjournment ~s at ~ P.M. Ralph P. Booth Town Clerk
