ZBA Zoning Update Review
At my invitation, at the ZBA Special Meeting on May 18, 2025,Planning Director Heather Lanza presented her
PowerPoint zoning update overview to the members of the Board of Appeals. A discussion followed. In my
own review of the draft code update,as a member of the Zoning Update Advisory Committee and ZBA
Chairperson, I found four prior ZBA code interpretations, dating back to 2002,that had been addressed/codified:
second story non-conformity requiring a"pyramid/sky plane"regulation; multiple uses and lot area in B and HB
Zones;application of the bulk schedule on split zoned properties; permission to establish a"caretakes/employee
dwelling unit"on commercial properties.
