I will need to amend the permit to include charges for the two additional systems. This will not require any additional paperwork, however I will have to add additional fees for each system and each meter.The additional fee due in total is$300.00. (two photovoltaic systems&two additional meters). The reason for this is because PSEG requires separate electrical certificates for each meter. I will attach the amended permit. These code requirements include the fact that the roof framing is adequate to support the additional loads from solar panels as well as roof ridge and peak access to first responders. I have evaluated the structural framing of the existing roof with the additional loading to account for the proposed solar panel application. Deflection and stresses of the structural components remain within the allowable for the existing roof for wind pressures from 140 mph, 3 second gust, Exposure C with a ground snow load of 25 pounds per square foot. Mounting locations and methods are as indicated in the submitted plans. From the site inspection and analysis, and as evidenced by previous roof loads withstood, it is my professional opinion that the existing building and roof framing is structurally adequate to support the reactions of the solar panels in addition to the existing code required live and dead loads. Also the wind analysis concluded that the mounting system as shown on the plans is adequate to resist the calculated uplift pressure. However, the building owners are to be made aware that long term buildup of heavy snow conditions may produce deflection in the roof structure. If any deflection is noticed, thenf it is recommended that the solar panels be cleared of accumulated snow more than one(1)foot deep over a period of one week. If no deflections are visible.under any snow, loading over a period of time, then there is no need to clear the solar panels. Based on the above evaluation, it is the opinion of the undersigned professional engineer,that with appropriate solar panel anchors being utilized, the roof system will adequately support the additional loading imposed by the solar panel arrays.
