Petl, III Councilman John J. Nickles Councilman Lawrence Murdock, Jr. Councilman Francis J~ ~urphy Councilman Joseph L. Townsend, Jr. Town Clerk JudithT. Terry Planning Board Chairman Henry E. Raynor, Jr~ AbSent: Justice Raymond W, Edwards Supervisor Pell explained.that .gltodiscuss the appointment Tow~n of Southold. She is on ~ilist, and the list expires today. Mr. Raynor agreed that the position should be a ~rapher since there are certain hearings held by the Planning Board.when a stenographer is required. He said that with reference to her ability, she'is coming along very-well and the Town has ~lmost six months invested in her training. Councilman Murdock objected to downgrading the job. Mrs. LonE was hired as a Clerk-Stenographer and he strongly feels a. Clerk-Steno- grapher- is needed in the Planning Board office. If the ~lanning Board had a hearing where a Clerk-Stenographer mustlegall¥ act, the Town would have to Eo out and. hire a s~Cond person, la .~zenographer, to do the job. The Town should not take care of the person, they should take career the job. Councilman Murdock emphasimed that Betty Neville. He would like to be assured that Mrs. Long Will take and pass the Clerk-Stenographer test the next time it iS given so she can be assigned to the position in the Planning Board as Mr. P~ynor advised the Board that Mrs. Lone will be taking the test in April and is presently enrolled in a stenographic class in, school. On motion of Supervisor Pell, seconded by Councilman Murphy, it was RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold~ hire from the Suffolk County C .st, for the Typist for the Town of Southold, ~ this date, February at a salary of $6,500.00 per annum, Vote eT the Town Board: Ayes: Councilman Townsend, Murphy, Councilman Murdock, Councilman Nickles, Supervisor This resolution was declared duly adopted'. FEBRUARY 2, 1982 33 On motion of Councilman Murphy, seconded by Councilman Murdock, it was RESOLVED that the Town Board of'the Town of Southold grant Susan Long her first s. ~t i:n the amount of $500.00 effective 2, Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Councilman Townsend, Councilman. Murphy, Councilman Murdock, CouncitmanNickles, Supervisor Dell. This resolution was declared duly ~dopted. Supervisor Dell advised the Board that Chief Winters is in need of an additional .rd and has recommended James Anderson, the position. On motion of Supervisor Dell, seconded by Councilman Murdock, it was RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southotd hire James Anderson, Nattituck, New York as a Relief School Cr effective this date, February 2 4~ay assignment, and Traffic Warden at a salary of $4.25 per hour. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Councilman Townsend, Councilman MUrphy, Councilman Murdock, Councilman Nickles, Supervisor Pelt. This resolution was declared duly adopted. On motion-of Supervisor Dell, seconded by Council~n Nickles, it was RESOLVER. that this Special Town Board Meeting be adjourned at 10:00 Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Councilman Townsend, Councilman Murphy, Councilman Murdock, Councilm~n Nickles, Supervisor.
