K~iop at Gr~enport~ on Tuesday~ September 28~ 195~ The meetin~ was ca~led to Order at 1:30 P.M~ with the following present: Supervisor Klipp$ Justices Tuthill~ Albertson~ Clark and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Prices To~n Attorney Terry and To~m C~erk'Booth. Moved by Justice Albertson~ s~conaed by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the two previous meetings be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vo~e of Town Board : iyes-S~pe~visor Klipp~ Justices Tuthill~ Albertson~ Clark and Demarest. Mr. Polito presented to the Town Board for its approval a proposed map of Sandwo0d Shore Homes~ property of Venteau Construction Corporation~ at Laurei~ for sub-division pur- poses. The lots~ not being the size the Board have establish- e~ the Board stated to Mr.,Potito that the lots must be 75 by 100 feet or equivalen~ in size. Herbert Cassidy and Albe~t S!edjeski appeared before the Town Board complaining about the waters of L.I. Sound flowing over the County High~y at the head of Albertson Lane onto their property during the recent hurricanes and damaging their farm produce. They felt that something should be done to correct the situation. Supervisor Klipp stated to them that he would take the matter up with the County H~hway Department. & communication was received from the Orient Garden Club relative to the To%m of Southol~ participating in ~ tree planting project to replace the trees in that vicinity that were destroyed in the recent hurricames. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: The Supervisor be instructed to advise the Orient Garden~Club that the Town wou2d be pleased to cooperate in such a program on a cooperative basis. For every dollar spent by the Orient Garden Club, the Town would contribute the same amount~ up to a ma~imu~ of $250.O0~ ~he total Town share. The Supervisor read a petition signed by 22 residents and taxpayers of Orient petitioning the Town Board to install adequate fmci!ities for properly draining the rainfall waters on Bay &venue into Rrient Harbor. The matter was turned over to the Super£ntendent of High~ys for his con- s~de_a~on to take such steps as he deems necessary to correct the situation. The Supervisor read a petition signed by 204 Taxpayers re- Siding outside the Incorporated Village of Greenpor~ object- ing to the incorporated line being extended to include their respective properties. The petition was placed on file. The Supervisor read a letter from Robert H. Brush relative to bank erosion on the Sound: enclosing a copy of a letter to Congressman Stuyvesant Wainwright~ inquiring as to the possibility of obtaining Federal Funds for ~ series of breakwaters. Moved by Justice Albertson$ seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly Audit meeting of this~ Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. ~Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday~ October ~ 19~+: at l:3Q PoM. Vote of To-~m Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp~ Justices Tuthill~ Albertson~ Clark and Demarest. The Town Clerk presented to the To~^~ Board detailed estimates of revenues and expenditures from the various officers and districts for the next fiscal year. Moved by Justice C!ark~ seconded by Justice TUthiil: RESOLVED: That in accordance with the recommendation of the Commissioners of ~he Fishers Island Ferry District the Town of Southo!d entered into a lease with the New York~ New Haven ~nd Hartford Railroad Company for the used'of a two inch cast iron water pipe on and ~nder the land of the New Harem Division of the Railroad Company at N~w London~ Co~mecticut~ said water pipe to be used as a supply to that property recently purchased from the Fishers Island Navigation Company located au the foot of State ~treet~ New London~ Connecticut~ at a rental of Twelve Dollars (~i2o00) per year~ effective as of July !~ !9~. Vote of Town Board: Ayes~Supervisor Klipp~ Justices Tut~iil~ A!bertson~ Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthi!!~ seconded by Justice Demarest: ~REAS~ the hurricane of August 31~ !951+~ did damage to a Ne!son bucket loader and revolving screen to such an e×temt as to make it inad~isab!e to repair it~ thereby creating an emer~ency~ now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold~ New York~ be and he hereby is authorized to purchase from the Municipal Machinery Corporation, Coram~ New York~ one Nelson Bucket Loader and Revolving Screen at a cost of $10~9~o00~ delivered to the sand pit at Cutch- ogue~ New Yerk~ with a trade-in allowance of $1~9~.00 for the old machine.
