The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor
NormanE. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday~June $~ 195~.
The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the
following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ .
Albertsen and Demarest, Superintendent of Highways Price,
TownAttorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The. Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine
claims against the Town~ concluding the Audit work at 2
o'clock P.M.

RESOLVED~ That the minutes of the previous meeting be:a~d
are dmly~approved as read.

RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board
will be held at the office of SupervisorNorman E; Klipp

RESOLVED: That the Town ~lerE be and he herebY~is direct-
ed · to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install
four additional aerial street lights in the Cutchogue- New
Suffolk Lighting District~ sa'id lights to be placed on
Poles No. 3~ No. 6~ No. 9, and No. 12 on Old Harbor Road~
New Suffolk.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be authorized to
advertise for sealed proposals to furnish theTown of South-
old suitable equipment for use at the Southold Town Dump

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby
is authorized to enter into a lease with Arthur Mehl~ re-
siding at Cutchogue~ New York~ for ALL that tract~or par-
cel of vacant land situate, lying,and being at Cutch~gue,
in the Town of Southold, Suffolk Ounty~ New york$-b~unded
and described as follows:
BEGINNING at e point on.the northerly line of Main~Road~
100 feet easterly along said line from the land of Stanley
Kurczowski Estate; running thence in a westerly direction
along said northerly line of Nain Road a distance of 100
feet to said land of~Stanley Kurczowski Estate; running
thence in a northerly direction along said land of~Kurcz-
owski a distance of 210 feet, nore or less~ to other land
of Arthur Mehl;running thence in an easterly direction

WHEREAS, The Southold Town Board feels it is in the best
interest of not only the people of this vicinity but the
best interest of all the people of Long Island~ that a
safe~ efficient and economical railroad service isvital
to the continued welfare an~.~prosperity of Long Island~
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT
RESOLVED:That the Southold~Town Board unanimously~approves
the re~olution of the Board of Supervisors of' the~.County
of Suffelk~ adopted June 7~ 1951+~ relative to a plan to re-
habilitate the Long Island Railroad~ and be.~it further~

A letter was read from Irving L. Price~ Jr.~ Esq. ~n behalf
of W.'Harry Lister~ stating that Mr. Lister'woUld like
some financia~ assistance ~rom the Town Board 'in dredging
the entrance.~o Wickham's Creek~ at Cutchogue.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby
is authorized to contribute the sum of $k75.00'towards
the cost of dredging the entrance to Wickham's Creek at
Cutchogue, Town of. Southold~ New York. . '

WHEREAS, The Town Board feels it is in the best interest
of the people of the Township to alter present tax bills
and method of extending taxes~ and
WHER~S, In order to accomplish this it is absolutely
necessary that an ~ddi~ional Model M 215 Special Tax
Extension Machine be purchased from the Burrough's
Addin~ Machine Company, at this time in order that
delivery will be made by the time taxes are to be extended,
now~ therefore, be it
RESOLVED. ~That Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor~ be and he
hereby is ~authorized to order such a mmchine, ~mmediately,
at a cos~ not to exceed $3~900.0~o

The Town Board granted the request of Father B~ennan~ pastor
of the R. C. Church at Mattituck~ to have N0 PARKING signs
placed on the east side of Reeves Avenue~ extending 500
feet from Route 25.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be instructed to
obtain p~rmission of the County ~per~ntendent of Highways
to have a caution light installe~ at the intersection of
Peconic Lane and Route 27A.

ers of the Fishers Island Ferry District that a Jr. Clerk
be appointed, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED: That Alice Treadwell OSwald be and she hereby is
appointed Junior Clerk of the Fishers Island Ferry District,
and be it further
RESOLVED: That the compensation for such position be fixed
at~iOne Dollar ($1.00) per hour, payable in regular monthly
payments~ but not to exceed the sum of Seven Hundred Dollars
($~00.00) per annum, and be it further
RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of May 28,

District have recommended the purchase of certain property
owned by the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad
Company, l~cated at the foot of State Street and adjacent
thereto at New London, Connecticut, and
WHEREAS, Tha Southold Town Board approve~ of the purchase
.of~this property, now~ therefore be it
RESOLVED: T~at the °odthold ~own Board authorizes Supervimr
Norman E. Klipp to issue the following checks necessary to
close this transaction:

Point Club Association, Inc. have requested that ma 25mile
speed zone be established throughout Nass~u Point~ now,there-

RESOLVED: That the Sonthold Town Board make application to
the New York' State TraFfic Commission for an order establish-
ing sUch speed zone.

All proposed highways shall be properly Sur~eyed~map-
ped~ and standard concrete monuments placed at,he ex-
pense of the property owners or owner dedicating such
highway.
All highways terminating at water shall be a width of
not less than 100 feet for a distance of. 50 feet back
from the mean high water mark.
All deadend highways must have a width of not less than
100 feet for a distance of 50 fees back from such de~d-
end or an equivalent thereof for a turnaround.
The names of such highways may be chosen by the. owner
or owners of property dedicatin~ such highway~ and the
name of such highway shall be subject to the approval
of the Town Board. The owner or owners of property
dedicated for highway purposes shall furnish for such
highways wooden street signs in accordance with the
attached sketch and as directed by the Super intendent
of Highways. The Town Superintendent of Highways will
erect such signs where they may lawfully be erec,ed~ and
they shall remain at these points until such~time as
the Town replaces same with its standard metal Sign
posts.
?. A width of 90 feet shall be hereinafter known as the
highway area.
8. All trees, brush, roots~ rocks, and so forth~ shall be
thoroughly cleared from the highway area and all such
material shall be removed from the bounds ~f the highway.
9. The portion known as the highway area shall be plowed,
disc-harrowed, properly graded, proper drainage pro- _
vided and shaped to the satisfaction of the Superinten
dent of Highways.
10. Highways accepted by the Town as town highways will not
be surfaced until there exists at least $20,000°00 assess-
ed valuation per mile of highway accepted, or fraction
thereof~ or the cost of material needed f6r surfacing
such highway is paid for By the property owner or owners
adjacent to such highway.
Sidewalks shall be a standard $ feet width, $ inches
thick except in driveways; such driveways shall be 6
inches thick. Curbs and gutters to be built to standard
forms as may be directed by the Superintendent of High-
ways. The Town will furnish the necessary engineering,
grading, fill', sand, gravel and labor. The property owner
will furnish the necessary cemgnt as directed by the
Superintendent of Highways. The amount of construction
of sidewalks, curbs and gutters throughout the Town will
be governed by the bmdget appropriation.
12. Whenever in the opinion of the Superintendent of High-
ways he feels that for the best interests of the Town
alterations or modifications should be made to the above
specifications, rules and regulations~ such alterations
or modifications may be made on the recommendation of
the Superintendent of Highways; such recommendations
being subject to the approval of the Town Board.
