Town Board at the office of the Supervisor, 16 South Street,
Greenport, New York, in said town on the 28th day of July,
1964, at 7:30 o'clock in the evening of said day, on the
following proposals to amend the Building Zone Ordinance

Gentlemen:
This is to certify that the following action was taken by the
Southold Town Planning Board at a regular meeting held on June 30,
1964:
In the matter of the petition of Island's End Golf and Country Club,
for a change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to
"B" Business District on certain real property situated at Greenport,
and more particularly bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a
concrete monument on the northerly line of the Main Road at the south-
easterly corner of land of Ernest Wiggins and the southwesterly corner of
land of Floyd King; from said point of beginning running along said land of
Wiggins, north 36° 04' 00" west, 300 feet; thence along said land of Floyd
King, north 66° 39' 50" east, 190.61 feet to land of Wayland Brown; thence
along said land of Wayland Brown, south 36° 03' 40" east, 106.84 feet;
thence along land of LeRoy Brown, south 33° 45' 40" east, 193.16 feet to
said northerly line of the Main Road; thence along said northerly line,
south 67° 08' 30" west, 183.0 feet to the point or place of beginning,
it is hereby
RESOLVED that the Planning Board does not recommend to We Town
Board the change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District
to "B' Business District on the property of Island's End Golf and Country
Club at Greenport, as described above, for the following reasons:
1, This is a residential area and there is at present no other
"B" Business District near by, and if granted this would constitute
spot zoning.

2. Judging by the informal discussions with the residents in the
area at previous meetings of the Planning Board, they are opposed to
a business being conducted in this area.
3. We beleive that there is a very real question about the validity
of this application, in view of the fact that the owners of this property
did not join in the application.
