APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Moved by Inga Van Eysden, seconded by Maggie Merrill, to Approve the Minutes of
February 5, 2025.
REPORTS
Nancy May attended the Board of Trustees meeting held on February 12,2025.. The
meeting was business as usual.
Inga Van Eysden and Maggie Merrill attended the Town Board work session on February
25th to discuss CSC partnerships with local groups. CAC collaboration with other
organizations for future events could qualify for CSC points.
Carol Brown will continue working on the homeowner's guide with Yan. She suggested
that the CAC put together a training packet for new members,.which would include related
codes and environmental documents.
The Southold Town Spring Cleanup begins April 1st. Bamboo, Phragmites and other
invasives will not be accepted.
Inga Van Eysden mentioned that the recycling of demolition debris is currently in the
works, as it is a county-wide problem. Anne Murray will provide updates as the NFEC is
also working on this.
CLIMATE SMART COMMUNITIES
Sarah Oral, IMEG Consultant for the NYSDEC CSC Program and Andrew Manitt, Molloy
College attended the meeting via Zoom as the guest speakers.. A contract is in the works,
which will allow fora community wide inventory for technical assistance for all towns. For
now, Andrew has the tools to reduce emissions for the town and can assist with how to
achieve points for the low-hanging fruit. Carol Brown wanted to move forward with the
baseline data. Sarah will provide us with a copy of the vulnerability assessment, which
can also be found on their website. She also suggested the CAC members look at East
Hampton's website as they are almost Silver Certified. Carol invited Andrew to future
meetings to assist the CAC in getting certified.
Some examples of achievable actions are solar at the animal.shelter, the re-use center
and the landfill, the food scraps program, which would only require the submission of the
flyer, and solar street lighting in Cutchogue. The solar project at.the landfill, would be
located on land owned by the town and leased to the solar company. Points could be
earned for this project since we have a hosting agreement; as well as the EV charging
stations located in the town parking lot across from the trai.n'station in Southold.

Carol Brown and Nancy May will work together on various elements, Maggie Merrill will
work on Pledge Element#7-Coastal Resiliency and Inga Van Eysden will work on Pledge

Advisory Committee on public education as we are coming into the high season of lawn,
watering, ie. town ad and a public service announcement on WLNG.
Carol Brown will attend the Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Wed., March 19,
2025.
The next meeting of the Conservation Advisory Council is scheduled for Wed., April 9,
2025 at 4:30PM in the Conference Room.
