Rich III, Chairman Members of the Planning Board Date: March 28, 2025 Re: Planning Board comments on a Local Law in relation to an Amendment to Chapter 280, Zoning Accessory Apartments. The Planning Board supports the proposed amendments to Chapter 280, Zoning Accessory Apartments, which removes the requirement that some structures must have been issued a certificate of occupancy three years prior to being eligible to apply for an accessory apartment. The proposed amendments would facilitate the construction of more accessory apartments and implements the Southold Town Comprehensive Plan goal Chapter 8 1 Housing: Goal l —Create affordable housing—Objective 1.1 —Provide diversified housing using existing buildings to help meet the needs of current year-round residents, including senior citizens and local workers.
