Just as a clarification, your application was not denied, it was tabled. So since this is still a pending application, I'm not allowed to discuss it outside of a public hearing. However, I believe that the minutes from the meeting will show that the Trustees were concerned with the effects of shoaling on the proposed application, as well as discussing alternative options. Please feel free to contact the Trustee office and submit any other information (letters, emails, photos, etc.) that you would like to be considered as part of the file and application. Thank you, Glenn Goldsmith President Southold Town Board of Trustees From: Walter Chadwick<wchadwickdesign@aol.com> Sent:Thursday, March 20, 2025 4:57:59 PM To: Goldsmith, Glenn Subject: 6565 Indian Neck Lane Peconic Dear Mr.Goldsmith, I have your email address as I was CCed by my neighbor Greg Cukor when he wrote you about my project. I know my application was tabled last night and I am waiting to talk to my expediter,Jeff Patango, who has not been available today. Why I am writing you is not because I was denied. What I am very upset about is that I now find out that he informed the trustees that when hurricane Sandi pushed sand under my pier and created a new peninsula that I took my T dock and turned it into a straight line. This is absolutely incorrect.Approximately 26 years ago, I applied to the trustees for the exact dock that I have now. Marine contractor Steve Pawlik installed the pier and the floating dock exactly to the permit. The floating dock was always in a straight line with the pier. I have never touched the floating dock or any of the posts in the creek.Anyone that's ever been on Richmond Creek could tell you that my dock has always been like this. I am not the kind of person that would do something without a permit. What Jeff wrote in an email to me this morning was that you might want me to dredge and then get a permit to put my dock in the same exact place that it has been for 26 years with a permit. I emailed Jeff and told him how upset I was and he has not called me. I would be happy to come down to the trustee's office and show you all of my permits from 26 years ago. I have photographs from all of these years. i I have reached out to you because I feel that the trustees may think I am the kind of person who doesn't care about the creek. I am actually a member of the Southold Peconic Civic Association. Last fall, I hosted an event at my house for the organization Rewild and the Civic Association discussing water conservation and eliminating the use of chemicals in the garden all for the sake of the health of the creek. Most Sincerely, Walter Chadwick 516-318-3380 ATTENTION:This email came from an external source. Thanks! Glenn From: Greg Cukor<cukor.greg@gmail.com> Sent: Monday, March 17, 2025 3:20 PM To: Goldsmith, Glenn Subject:Application of Walter Chadwick for Dock Extension at the Trustees Hearing March 19 Dear Glenn, I am writing in support of the application to modify the existing dock on the property immediately to the west of Parkers Landing on Richmond Creek. My property is just on the opposite side of Indian Neck Lane from the boat landing. Because the profile of the bottom and shoreline to the west of Parkers Landing has changed over the years, there are two ways to make the existing dock useful again. One way is to extend the existing structure into deeper water. The other would be to do a limited amount of dredging next to the existing dock. Neither alternative would interfere with navigation in the creek. Unless there are plans to do additional dredging in Richmond Creek in the near future, what is being proposed seems to be the best alternative and the one least likely to disturb shellfish, other marine life, and the aquatic grasses along the shoreline. As I understand, the Trustees made a field inspection and saw the proposed location of the new dock which is approximately 6' seaward of the end of the existing. As you will perhaps see on the permitted plans for this location, the dock was originally in a T configuration and after Superstorm Sandy came through it brought with it severe sand inundation to the area surrounding the floating dock.To avoid having the floating dock hit the bottom twice a day and render it useless they rotated the float in its current position. As the Trustees saw in the field and as shown on the provided water depth survey, there is limited depth to bottom during low tide conditions. Therefore,we are proposing a 15' pier extension and re-positioning the floating dock back to a T configuration as it previously existed. The new location will allow for the required water depth of 30" at MLW and does not pose a hazard to navigation due to the open area of this project. Hope this clarifies some of the confusion, I'd be happy to discuss further if anyone has any questions. Thanks Jeff JJPatanL maiLco ATTENTION:This email came from an external source. The Board went out to each site yesterday afternoon and found that the posting was not present nor was the project staked out. Per Glenn, the application is postponed. Regarding the noticing, I will talk to our legal counsel about this and get back to you on if you need to re-notice. In accordance with Town of Southold Chapter 55-1(copy always included within the hearing package send by your office)this project meets the deadline requirements which states the mailings and signs must be posted for a period of not less than seven days immediately preceding the date of the public hearing. The hearing is February 12, 2025;therefore,the date of mailings and posting are within the requirements of Town Code Chapter 55-1 and is in place for the required seven-day period. Based on this, I ask for further reasoning and clarification as to why this hearing is being postponed. It appears the Chapter 55-1Code requirements and Trustee requirements may overlap.
