Follow-up on request to Lower Nassau Point speeds from 30MPH to 25MPH. Responses from Town Attorney and Planning regarding road classifications. Also discuss the Leeton Drive area's request. 3. Follow up on NYSDOT issues on #25: Issues broken out as discussed in December: 1. Infrastructure: 1. Flooding issues on #25 especially Port of Egypt. 2. Can NYSDOT maintain the drainage pipes under #25 between Orient Broad Meadow and the wetland to the north. The Town has cleaned out the pipes under #25 at Port of Egypt. 2.Transportation: 1. As our Main Road #25 cuts through each hamlet, we have pedestrian crossing issues. We request a field visit to explore safety improvements that will additionally support economic vitality, quality of life and increased alternative modes of travel. What can the State provide or do to make these safer? Moveable Yield-to-Pedestrian signs? Lights? Other? 2. Lowering the speed limit on #25 from 45 to 30MPH from Port of Egypt to Silvermere then down to the 25MPH east to the current speed of 25MPH east of Moores Lane in the incorporated Village. 3. What options would NYSDOT consider to improve our bicycle and pedestrian Infrastructure: Would NYSDOT consider a test of flexible delineators protecting the shoulder between Southold and Greenport? Could flexible delineators be installed on the shoulder stripe at crosswalks to prevent vehicles passing on the right of cars stopped for pedestrians? 4. What does NYSDOT think about federal grant opportunities that can help with traffic calming, etc.? 3. Follow-up on transit discussion including on-demand as they have on the South Fork. Previously Mary Bess expressed need to tackle volume of vehicles, only one road to Orient and the ferry, need a shift to mass transit. Should the Cross Sound Ferry provide a bus to the LIRR, Hampton Jitney and ferry to Shelter Island? Suffolk County bus picks up at the Orient ferry but the Greenport stop is over by the grocery. Need to prepare memo to Town Board with recommendations. 4. Police data updates. 5. New business: 6. Next Meeting: 2/24 at 10:30AM 7.
