1. Minutes
2. New Suffolk parking issue- Dan and Anne
3. Methods for capturing illegally loud vehicles: Paul Murphy guest
4. Concerns on Madison St especially with roundabout construction.
5. Seaview Trails field work: Eric—Mattituck Cutchogue 14 mile loop. Charlie Peck—Soundview/Main Bayview
14 mile loop and Margaret—Orient 5 mile one. Chris'questions:
A. Given the horror that the New Suffolk/Main Rd intersection is, can the route be modified? When
the route intersects with Main Rd after coming south on Wickham, can the cyclist be directed to
turn left on Main Road and then proceed to Reeve Rd to New Suffolk?
B. Can a western leg be added? From Macari along Bergen to Cox Neck then to W Mill Rd, Naugles,
Breakwater, back to Cox Neck and then to Westphalia to Pike to Wickham. Brings cyclists into
town.
C. Will the map include bike rack locations?
D. Eric's answers:The actual route, which one can't discern from my map, does avoid the New
Suffolk and Main Road intersection. It leads riders to Reeve Avenue and Maple Avenue between
New Suffolk Avenue and Pike Street.
E. I think adding a western circuit would be great. There are some significant hills on the route to
Breakwater Beach, which is a contrast with the mostly flat Mattituck-Cutchogue loop.
F. And once the newly approved bike racks are sited, they could easily be included in the future
digital town cycling maps.
6. Mattituck and NYSDOT meeting?
7. Soundview's purchase of street lights at crosswalks?
8. New business
9. Next Meeting: Monday, May 20 at 10:30AM
Dates for 2024: 6/17, 7/15, 8/19, 9/16, 10/21, 11/18, 12/16
Hi Anne,
On April 24 on my way to the New Suffolk post office on New Suffolk Ave, making a right turn on first st, a large SUV was
parked right up to the corner. I called the highway dept about no parking signs at the corners and Dan Goodwin called me
back and said to write you a letter and come to the meeting on Monday May 20. 1 also addressed the southeast corner of
Robins Island property where 3 or so cars park on the triangle. That intersection needs to be clear for drivers, walkers,
wheelchairs, pet walkers and bicyclists.
After the debacle of the Stadium Sailboat Races (sponsored by the waterfront and Galley Ho, not the community)emergency
vehicles would not be able to get through. I hate to clutter up our roadsides with signs , maybe road markings would help, and
some rocks (suggested by Dan)on the southeast corner. I will be at the meeting.Thank you for looking into this.

Dear Supervisor Krupski: Southold Town Clerk
We live at 9 Madison Street, Greenport and request consideration of signage and postings as the new
Roundabout is constructed. Currently,Madison Street is used as a by-pass by many to avoid the traffic
congestion at the intersection of Main Street and Route 48. We anticipate the use of Madison Street to
increase significantly when construction begins, causing back-up and lines of traffic on Madison Street as
drivers attempt to make a left hand turn onto Route 48.The site line at the intersection of Madison Street
and Route 48 is currently impeded in both directions by a utility poles and tall hedges, requiring drivers
to'inch'out toward the travel lanes of Route 48 in order to better see oncoming traffic. In addition, the
increase in traffic on Madison Street will affect the ability of homeowners to enter and exit their
driveways.Madison Street is a 3 rod right-of-way with limited shoulders on both sides making two-way
traffic difficult at best, especially given that many homeowners park their vehicles on the road.
We request consideration of the following:
-A weight limit on Madison Street to avoid usage by large vehicles such as semi's,tour buses and motor
homes,and
-Not posting Madison Street as a'Detour'if this is a consideration.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions or would like to further discuss our request.
Thank you.
Sincerely, f
J n and Robert Ellis nn
