There was no meeting held in October. Discussion Items: The fall planting of the trees has now been successfully completed. Contractor Ironwood Industries has supplied and installed 75 trees in accordance with their contract with the Town of Southold. Committee reported that the tree protectors have been installed, and that all looks good with the planting. Committee discussed particulars i.e. the watering of the trees. Dan Goodwin advises that he will be speaking with John Sepenoski to start discussions toward the creation of a GIS map which would indicate the locations of trees planted. We are still scoping out a suitable location for the planting of the Tremblay tree/plaque. Gerard has been communicating with Mabel Alexander(sister of Tremblay). Diane is to be in contact with Lauren or Michelle of Supervisor's office to inquire about the process involved with installing Peggy Murphy as an Honorary Member to the Southold Town Tree Committee. Peggy's term will be up this coming March. Meeting dates were selected for 2025 and will be sent to the Town Clerk. Arbor Day will be on Friday, April 25. The first letter has now been sent out to the participating schools outlining the contest rules. A yearly agenda outlining the committee's procedures by month has been prepared for Gerard to review. He will review and fine tune so that different members can.be assigned specific tasks for the upcoming year. Dan advised on the neighborhoods that have had a significant number of trees removed which would be potential replanting spots for next Fall. Gerard would like to start confirming spots by this July, so that the bids can get out earlier this year. There will be a first Code Committee meeting on December 10,2024 for the proposed Tree Code. Gerard will attend same on behalf of the Committee. Discussion was had with regard to coming up with a Master Plan of what to take down and plant at the Recreation Center. We will next meet on December 18, 2024. This meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Diane DiSalvo
