RESOLVED that the Southold Town Planning Board recommend to the Town Board that this change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District be made on the aforementioned property. Survey for Mattituck Council No. 34, JUnior Order of United American Mechanics, Mattituck, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York by Alden W. Young, dated December 7, 1953. The Planning Board believes that the cultural value of such a project would be of considerable value to the Town of Southold, and although there is not adequate parking at the same time we feel the streets are wider than normal and they accomodate the members of the two churches without difficulty. Respectfully submitted, (Signed) John Wickham, Chairman Southold Town Planning Board. On the petition from the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, Mattituck Council No. made for the following reasons: Theatre. 34, No. 3, Such request is Premises to be used as Summer This petition is signed by Gharles O. Frazee, Trustee, Arthur N. Penny, Trustee and Sidny W. Olmsted, Trustee, Mattituck Council, No. 34, Junior Order United American Mechanics and dated September 10, 1960. Is there anybody present who wishes to be heard in favor of such proposal to amend the Zoning Ordinance? MR. SIDNY OLMSTED, Mattituck, New York: I am one of the Trustees of the Mattituck Council and we feel this would be an excellent project not only for Mattituck but for the Town of Southold. I do not know of any other project in the Town of Southold and I think it would be a very good thing. 6 SUPERVISOR TUTHILL: speak in MR. JAMES MORENO, 51 Lumur Drive, Is there anybody else who wishes to favor of this petition? Sayville, New York: I am motor less responsible for the petition because I am the producer of the summer theatre and I picked this area because it has been referred to as the Cape Cod of Long Island and Cape Cod has no less than two summer theatres. Looking for a place and a building of that size is difficult to find and I went to the Junior Order and they have been very cooperative. I operated the old Town Theatre in Smithtown for many years and it brought a great deal to Smithtown. As I see the North Fork of Long Island the trend is more or less in need of a summer theatre. I have thought of it for a number of years and I feel it is a good spot. SUPERVISOR TUTHILL: Is there anyone else who wishes to be heard in favor? (There was no response.) SUPERVISOR TUTHILL: Is there anyone present who wishes to be heard against this change of zoning? (There was no response.) SUPERVISOR TUTHILL: Is there anyone present who wishes to be heard for or against or for the good of the people? (There was no respon~ .) SUPERVISOR TUTHILL: closed.
