Subject: Summit Ridge Energy, Southold Landfill Solar Project

Dear Mr. Verity:
Under an agreement with the Town of Southold, Summit Ridge Energy (8RE) proposes to
construct and operate a am|aroner0yQenaraUnghaoi|ih/ at the Southold Solid VV8Ste Landfill
located at 8155 Coo Lone (Suffolk County Tax Map Number 1000-098.00-01.00-017.005).
Southold, New York (the Project).ot). The Project site is located in Southo|d'e Light Industrial (L|)
zoning district.
SIRE proposes to construct and operate o ground-mounted photovoltaic solar generating facility
(SGF) on top of the capped landfill ot the Project ai0m (UleF, jecU. TheP je[tvxiUino|ude:
• Approximately 7.900 solar panels will have a generating capacity mf4.00 megawatts
(MVV) direct current or3.O6 yWVValternating current.
• The panels will be arranged in two arrays on the capped landfill on either side of an
existing gravel access drive.
• The solar panels will be mounted on concrete ballasts so the landfill cap will not be
disturbed. Each array will be surrounded bvagated fence.
• Two new access roads/t urnarounds will be constructed for access to each array.
• Electrical equipment(transformers, switchboards, inverters)will be placed on concrete or
gn@wa| pads near the new access drives/turnarounds and located near the center of the
parcel.
• Two lines of vegetative barriers of native plants will be installed on the eastern side of the
Project site to minimize visual |rnp@[t of the Project.
Under Section 280-82B of the Town of Southold Zoning Code (zoning code), Dmnnnnercia|-aca|a
solar production system is permitted by special exception and site plan review by the Planning
Board. This document is 8 letter of intent to inform the Southold Building Department ofSRE'G
pnmpoa8|, to obtain a denial ofthe building permit, and Uo begin the special exception and site plan
review process.
To begin your review of the Project, a completed building permit application form and site plan for
the Projectana attached. Based on the June27. 2024. pre-submission conference conducted
between
SIRE and the Town of Southold, SIRE understands that the final building permit fee will
be determined during the course of the special exception and site plan review process.
