This building was completely destroyed by fire on June 10,2021. As part of the design process for the replacement building, a search of Town records was performed. Information was also requested from the previous owners. No specific documents regarding the size of the building were produced. The design of the replacement structure is based upon the estimated size of the original building(length, width and height). The design dimensionally duplicates the original building based upon available information. The design also includes elements to address the current FEMA requirements and NYS/Town of Southold Building Codes. The inspection covered the framing for the replacement storage building structure. The areas inspected included the first floor and roof framing of the new structure. The framing work included exterior and interior walls and roof. The inspection results are: Items inspected included lumber type/grade, lumber size, dimensional spacing,framing connections,header sizes,bearing, continuity strapping and integration with the concrete foundation. The wall framing work, and exterior wall and roof sheathing was done according to approved plans and in compliance with the applicable sections of the IRC,NYS and Southold Town Building Codes. The roof frame structure is built with dimensional lumber,through bolted to form trusses that span the building. The trusses were constructed on-site and were done in accordance with the approved plans. I've been back working with Nick Mazzaferro on the construction details for the sheds that burned down last June. Lynn from my office will be dropping off updated project plans with Nick's construction details and a letter stating that the height of the proposed buildings are as close to the height of the previous buildings as he can determine. There's not enough space on the property to construct access ramps to raise the overall elevation of the finished floor to elevation +10'. So in order to comply with FEMA regulations, the floor elevation has been raised to elevation+6' (versus previously existing +4') and we are proposing flood shields on the doors. (We could not find flood shields that worked with barn doors or garage doors, so we had to change those doors to a carriage style (swing) door and place them on the ends of the buildings so there's room to construct ramps needed to enter the building with boats, equipment, etc...). So the building is somewhat the same as previously existed but a bit different to comply with FEMA.
