National Recovery Month Proclamation
WHEREAS,the Town of Southold recognizes that substance use is a national and local
issue faced by persons and communities across the country; and
WHEREAS,the Town is supportive of community resources that assist community
members and families struggling with this issue; and
WHEREAS, many local municipalities, community agencies, groups and taskforces are
supporting a"Go Purple" initiative during the month of September; and
WHEREAS,the Town of Southold has been asked to join in efforts to "Go Purple"
recognizing and raising awareness of substance use disorder and celebrating those in
recovery; and
WHEREAS, all Townships are encouraged to "Go Purple" and hold events throughout
National Recovery Month in September 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Southold
recognizes "Southold Goes Purple" during the month of September 2024 recognizing
and raising awareness of substance use disorder and celebrating those in recovery.
