SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD OF APPEALS
March 29, 1961
A Regular meeting of the Southold Town Board of Appeals was
held at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 29, 1961, at the Town Clerk
Office, Main Road, Southold, New York.
There were present: Messrs. Robert W. Gillispie, Jr., Chaiz.~n,
Robert Bergen and Charles Grigonis, Jr.
Absent: Messrs. Herbert Rosenberg and Serge Doyen, Jr.
Chairman Gillispie read request %344 of Robert Ketcham on
behalf of the Senset Motel to erect a directional sign on the South
side of Route 25, Greenport, N.Y. on the property of Marlo Ciacia.
Chairman Gillispie asked if there was anyone present who
wishes to speak for the request.
Mr. Thomas M. Molin, Owner and Operator of the Sunset Motel
was present and stated that they have just one sign which was
granted last year. Up to the present time they had no location
for other signs and Bob Ketcham had found the location on the
Ciacia property and Mr. Molln thought it was a good location.
Chairman Gillispie a~ked if there was anyone present to speak
against the request.
Mrs. Mary A. Homan, Mrs. Fred Rempe and Mrs. Paul Eckhart, all
of Pipes Neck Road, were present and protested about the condition
of Mr. Ciacia's property, stating that it was full of junk, old
cars, a tractor etc. They all decided that ~they were not against
Mr. Molin erecting the sign, but rather the unsightly condition
of the Ciacia property.
Chair.~n Glllispie e~$gested that they write a letter of
protest to the Town Board.
Chairman Gillispie offered a resolution granting this ap-
plication as applied for and specifically locating this sign
approximately 25 feet West of the Ryan property and 5 feet South
of Route 25; Seconded by Mr. Grigonis. Carried.
Chairman Gillispie read the request %345 of Robert Ketcham to
erect signs for Cozy Cove Cottages and Sunseet Motel on the property
of Clementine R~tkowski on the South side of Route 25, East Marion,
N. Y,, 35 feet from the property line on Shipyard Lane and 5 feet
from the property line on Route 25.

Chairman Gilliepie asked if there was any one present who
wished to speak for the application.
Mr. Thomas M. Molln present spoke for the sign for Sunset Motel.
Chairman Gillispie asked if there was any one present to
s~eak against the application.
No one present to s~eak against the application.
Resolution offered by Chairman Gillispie granting permission
for a double faced sign to be placed on Route 25, 5 feet from Main
Road and 35 feet from Shipyard Lane; seconded by Mr. Grigonis.
Carried.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved on Motion by
Chairm~n Gillisple; seconded by ~r. Bergen.
Actions of the Board were signed and filed with the Town Clerk.
On Motion of Mr. Gillispie; seconded by Mr. Bergen; application
of Helmut Hass A/C Southold Town Beach Motel for directional sign
to be located on the ~e~u~s of Alfred Teves, North side of North
Road at Albertson Lane was scheduled for 7=30 P.M., April 6, 1961.
Application %346 Helmut Hass A/C Southold Town Beach Motel,
for a directional sign to be erected and maintained on the premises
of J. Wickham Estate, North side of Main Road, West side of
Albertson Lane was scheduled to be heard at 7~40 P.M., April
6, 1961.
Application %348 Otis Horn for expansion of non-conforming
use, Private Road, North side Oriental Avenue, Fishers Island, was
scheduled for 8~00 P.M., April 6, 1961.Offered by Mr. Glllispie and
seconded by Mr. Bergen.
Application %349, Arthur Walsh, South side MontaukAvenue,
Fishers Island, for permission to reduce front yard set-back for
an accessory building was scheduled for 8~15 P.M., April 6, 1961.
Offered by Bergen; seconded by Grigonis.
m Application %350, Our Lady of Ostrabrama Church for special
exception to erect a directional sign on premises of J. Henry Wolf
South side Main Road, Cutchogue, scheduled for 9~00 P.M. April
6, 1961. Offered by Mr. Bergen; seconded by Mr. Gillispie.
Application %351, Our Lady of Ostrabrama Church for special
exception to erect a directional sign on premises of John Krupski,
South side Middle Road and West side Depot Lane, Cutchogue, scheduled
for 9~15 P.M., April 6, 1961. Offered by Mr. Grigonis; seconded
by Mr. Bergen.

Application ~352, Our Lady of Ostrabrama Church for special
exception to erect a directional sign on premises of Peter
Kujawski, corner of Leslie Road and BHy Avenue, Cutchogue,
scheduled for 9~15 P.M., April 6, 1961. Offered by Mr. Bergen;
and seconded by Mr. Gillispie.
Meeting was adjourned at 1235 P.M.
