We had a damaging storm this past April with high tides that has created significant erosion along our community park and beachfront. We lost not only sand but a significant about of plantings including 90% of the phragmites. (roots and all). The beach and park are a contiguous area that are adjacent, separated only by shrubs and other plants. There is significant bulkheading on the neighboring property which adds to the problem. If the erosion continues,we fear we will be unable to maintain our beloved beach and park. I am requesting that someone from your office meet us as the beach. Things we have discussed so far: 1. Potential hardening or riprap of the shoreline. 2. Partial removal of trees, that if lost in a storm, would take a much-needed root system with it. 3. Sand added, plants such as the following to help with future erosion a. Shrubs b. Baccharis halimifolia c. Myrica pensylvanica d. Prunus maritima e. Grasses f. Ammophila breviligulata g. Leymus mollis h. Panicum amarum I. Fobs j. Solidago sempervirens We look forward to your advice and guidance.
