RE: 700 DEEP HOLE DRIVE, MATTITUCK
SCTM# 1000-115-12-10
Dear Mr. Haack:
This letter is a follow up to your email of March 1, 2024, along with photographs. The
Board of Trustees reviewed your request to remove one (1) dead tree that is located on
your property and is within 100' of the wetlands. This tree was reviewed and seen by
Trustee President, Glenn Goldsmith on March 4, 2024.
The Board of Trustees determined that the one (1) tree near the wetlands may be
removed at this time. No permit will be required in order to perform this work.
Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office.
This is not a determination from any other agency.
If you have any questions, please call our office at (631) 765-1892.
cerely,
Glenn Goldsmith, President
Board of Trustees

I checked this one out this morning and it's okay to be removed.
While I was there I noticed that the property across the creek at the end of Lupton's Point still has the silt
fence and staking in the water. We should refer it to the Harbor Masters. You can see the silt fence in one of
the pictures that was sent over.
Thanks!
Glenn

Good morning Ms.Cantrell-
Thank you for speaking with me this morning. Listed below please find the
information requested to remove an Oak tree located on my property.
Requestor:
W. Pete and Brenda Haack(property owners/residents)
Location of tree:
Oak tree located on West side of property, adjacent to slope on east side of
Deep Hole Creek.(my property, but in Wetlands)

Physical Address(same as mailing address)
700 Deep Hole Drive
Mattituck, NY 11752
Home phone 631.298.7459,cell 631.793.5082
Reason for removal:
Rot(large open hole)extending through trunk of tree, please see attached
photo(2 x photos attached).Tree not salvageable, broken limb has been
pruned once(2018?)with verbal permission of Mr. Brenneman(Trustee),but
rot continued through trunk.Ortiz Tree Service of Riverhead has also
inspected and determined the tree to be non-salvageable. If tree falls,
potential property damage or injury/loss of life, due to size/location and

down with stump left in place so roots can help retain slope.
