AUG - ? 1978 A~gust 4, 1978 Southold Tc~n Board Town Hall F~i n Road Southold, N.Y. 11971 North Fozk Bank - Aerial Cc~ications Cable We are writing to you c~ behalf o! ~he North Fork Bank & Trust Company reques%ing permission to run an aerial c~L~unicaticns cable along public roads between the Bank's rosin office on Love Lane, Mattituck, and its data center on Sound Avenue, Mattituck. ~he facts giving rise to this application are set forth below. Last year the Bank purchased a private telephc~e system to replace N. Y. Telephone equipment. Generally, the equipment was to be within each facility hooking up to N.Y. Telephone trunk lines for external calls. The one exception to this arrangement was the m~n office - data center hook-up. Since the distance in~lved was relatively short and the usage relatively high, it was decided that a separate cable between the two facilities should be utilized. An arrangen~_nt was reached with L.I. Cablevision, whereby their would string the cable with theirs on the LILOD and N.Y. Telephone utility poles. We were assured by Cablevision that they had the authority to so agree and act. Apparently, Cablevision did not have the power to do what was done, since LILO~ and N.Y. Telephone objected to the presence of the Bank's cable on their poles. They instructed Cablevision to remDve the cable, ~mless the following conditions were met: 1. E~ecution of a pole agreement; 2. Obtaining a franchise fz~m the Town of Southold for r~mm/ng the cable aleng public roads; and 3. Providing insurance. The Bank has cc~plied with conditions ~[) and (3) end is now applying to you for the required permission. As the enclosed map illustrates, the two buildings to 'be connected are relative_ly close. The cable would be h%mg from approximately 10 poles running aieng Sound Avenue and ~uround the corner to the Batik. Please let us hear frcm you regarding the above.
