HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-09/04/2001LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2001 AT 7:30 P.M. M1NUTES Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Blum, Reed Jarvis, Bill Edwards, Ray Huntington, Fred Lee, Melissa Spiro, Tim Caufield and Benny Orlowski. Benny Orlowski was invited to come to tonight's meeting. He told the Committee that the County closed on the Zimmer property in Orient for $18,500.00 per acre. He said that the County is paying higher prices per acre than the Town. He felt that the Town should be paying a higher price per acre and then possibly the farmers would come to the Town. He also said that the County is almost out of money at this time for purchasing development rights. The Committee discussed which direction an application should go, to the Town or County. Peconic Land Trust Projects: Lettieri - 31-5-1.2 - Tim Caufield said contracts were delivered on Friday. Bittner - 69-1-7.1 - Tim will be meeting with her soon. Dubner/Vanderbosch - 84-1-7.1 - Tim will be meeting with them next week. At 9:00 p.m. the Committee went into Executive Session, wherein they discussed several appraisals. The Committee discussed the Barney Sidor appraisal 115-3-9.1 - Ray Huntington will speak to him and make an offer. Sullivan & Meonius - 122-2-8.1 & 24 - Melissa discussed this application with the Committee, an appraisal will be ordered. Ted Dowd - 56-1-5.1 - Melissa received an application from Mr. Dowd. This parcel is 7.4 acres. She will contact him. Aurichio - 56-4-16 - A draft contract from applicant's attorney was received. The Committee has given the Town Attorney things they felt should be included in the contract. Melissa handed out a copy of a letter sent to the Planning Board from Charles Cuddy, attorney for Keith Scott Morton - Orient Subdivision application. Ag & Markets list - Melissa discussed the list with the Committee. On this list are: Ernst, Dubner/Vanderbosch, Charles Simon, Elak, Barney Sidor and Pindar. The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Joyce M.
