TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2002 (~ 7:00 P.M.
MINUTES
Present were: Ray Blum, Ray Huntington, John Sepenoski, Reed Jarvis, Eric Keil,
Melissa Spiro, Tom Wickham, Tim Caufield, Carrie Cullen, Ted Dowd, Symma Gerard
and Randy Parsons.
Tim Caufield spoke to the Committee about the Aliano property on Oregon Road (83-2-
17.1). It is approximately 33 acres. He is interested in selling it and gave the Peconic
Land Trust permission to submit it to the Town for the purchase of development rights.
Dubner/Vander Bosch 84-1-8 & 84-4-6.1 & 7.1 - The unprotected land is
approximately 84.5 acres. It was suggested that Tim bring them to one of our meetings.
Tom Wickham suggested they appear before the Town's Planning and Zoning
Committee.
Ted Dowd - 56-1-5.1 - last summer he made an application to the Committee and an
appraisal was done. He is now thinking of selling it outright and not just the
development rights. An updated appraisal will be done.
Randy Parsons spoke to the Committee re: the Schmitt farm 95-3-8.1 . He discussed
what the possible plans would be. Ray Blum told him that we liked the farm but that
there are too many lots being created. The Committee would like to review this further
Carrie Cullen of the Nature Conservancy spoke to the Committee on the Pipes Cove area
and the offers that were made on Waldron (53-2-5) and Rendel (53-2-4) parcels.
She also spoke to Mr. Stackler and he is trying to reach all of the partners.
Posillico properties - Carrie told them that we would be interested in the two pieces, the
beach parcel and the triangle piece. A motion was made by Eric Keil and seconded by
John Sepenoski to have Carrie offer a higher price on the three parcels and also make an
offer on just the two parcels. All were in favor.
Reese - 45-5-5 - he signed an application form. It is across the street from the
information booth and the DOT yard in Greenport. Am appraisal will be ordered on this.
Melissa heard from the Federal Farmland Program and the Town will be given an award
for funding for farmland development right easements. Melissa and Greg Yakaboski are
reviewing the conditions of the grant.
Melissa said that the Town received a reimbursement check from Ag and Markets for
over $400,000.
Tom Wickham asked Melissa to bring in a list of what she needs as help in her
department.
The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, October
1, 2002 at 7:p.m.
With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
