MINUTES Present were: Ray Blum, Bill Edwards, John Sepenoski, Eric Keil, Fred Lee, Ray Huntington, Reed Jarvis, Melissa Spiro Tim Caufield, Bill Lindsay, Tom Wickham, Marian Sumner, Ed & Pat Booth, John Elak, Chris Baiz, Carrie Cullen And Brian from the Traveler Watchman. Ed Booth spoke to the Committee about his 28 acre lot (51-2-8) on the south side of Soundview Avenue and Mt. Beulah Avenue in Southold. He is interested in selling the development rights except for two 2 acre lots. It is a beautiful parcel that has been manicured by the owners. Chris Baiz discussed his property (56-5-1.3) on Bay Home Road and Main Road in Southold with the Committee. An appraisal won't be done on this until he decides what he wants to do with the waterfront. Tim Caufield spoke to the Committee about the Elak (115-8-3.1) farm. Recently the family has been negotiating with the County. The parcel is 29 acres. The County is updating its appraisal, which is 11 months old. Fred Lee told the Committee that he received a call from one of the owners of property across from his. He gave them the name of the Peconic Land Trust to contact. Marian Sumner spoke to one of the owners and Melissa will follow up by sending them a letter. Aliano - 74-4-4.1 - the closing will be here on Thursday, August 22, 2002 instead of in Southampton. Tim met with Gary Taylor, the appraiser, on the Simon property. He would be interested in looking at the evaluation differently. An updated appraisal is being done. Tom Wickham asked the Committee if perhaps some of the members could help Melissa determine what the future financial requirements will be for land preservation. At 9:20 p.m. the Committee went into executive session. Carrie Cullen from the Nature Conservancy spoike to the Committee re: the Pipes Cove parcels. Posillico - Reed Jarvis made a motion to have Carrie make an offer on the three parcels. This motion was seconded by Bill Edwards. All were in favor. Eric Keil contacted Roger Schmitt (95-3-8.1) - he has no signed contract as yet. Some members of the Committee will attend the Town Board public hearing on the extension of the Community Preservation Fund. The next regular meeting of the Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Joyce M. Wilkins Secretary
