LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING
TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2003 AT 7:30 P. M.
MINUTES
Present were: Ray Blum, John Sepenoski, Reed Jarvis, Fred Lee, Ray
Huntington, Eric Keil, Bill Edwards, Melissa Spiro, Tom Wickham and Randy
Parsons.
Stackler - 53-1-18 - Randy Parsons from the Nature Conservancy spoke to the
Committee about this property. Since the appraisal on this is from May 2002,
Randy spoke to the appraiser, Schuster, about doing an updated appraisal. A
motion was made by Reed Jarvis and seconded by Ray Huntington to offer the
full amount of the appraisal. The offer being good for 30 days. If Stackler
doesn't accept the offer, the Committee will address that at another meeting.
Five members were in favor, one opposed. Motion passed.
Louisa Kauneckas - 95-4-3.1 - It is located on Alvah's Lane in Cutchogue.
There are approximately 24 acres for preservation. It is active farmland. A
motion was made by Eric Keil and seconded by Fred Lee to have an appraisal
done for the preservation of farmland. All were in favor. Motion was passed.
Duff¥ - 63-2-6 - An offer was made and accepted. It will be brought up at the
next work session of the Town Board on August 12th.
Dubner (north} - 113-13-1.2 -this parcel is approximately 23 acres. A motion
was made by John Sepenoski and seconded by Reed Jarvis to make the same offer
that was made on the southern parcel. All were in favor.
NJ Mgmt. - 113-13-1.2 -this property is located north of Strawberry Fields -
approximately 15 acres. They would like to put up greenhouses on 3 acres. A
motion was made by Ray Blum and seconded by John Sepenoski to make an offer
for the development rights and that he would be able to put up greenhouses on 3
acres. All were in favor.
Peconic Design - 63-3-18.1 (George Weiser) Melissa discussed the hamlet
business uses with the Committee.
Mrs. Vitti would like to meet with Melissa and the Committee on August 11th at
4:00 p.m.
Eric Keil, Bill Edwards, Ray Huntington, Fred Lee and John Sepenoski as well as
Melissa plan to attend the Fishers Island meeting.
The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for August 26th and again on
September 2, 2003.
With no further business to be discussed the meeting was adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
