HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-07/09/2002LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, JULY 9, 2002 AT 7:30 P.M. MINUTES Present were: Ray Blum, Ray Huntington, Reed Jarvis, Fred Lee, Melissa Spiro, Tom Wickham, Tim Caufield, Mr. & Mrs. Samolewski. Melissa discussed with the Samolewskis their application. Mr. Samolewsi told the Committee where he wanted to place the lots. There are 14.8 acres to start with. The P1;anning Board is not happy with the lots being on Alvah's Lane. Melissa told the Samoleweskis to speak top the Planning Board and make their proposal to them and get their opinion. Melissa will make the arrangements for them to meet with the Planning Board. The Peconic Land Trust is working with Melissa on the Federal Farmland Grant. You have to have a pending offer to qualify. They have come up with 5 parcels. The 5 parcels are: Rutkoski ( we have an appraisal and offer made), Dr. Damianos ( the parcel next to the Aliano parcels), Elak ( we have an appraisal and an offer accepted) and Adamowicz (property located across from Simon, we have an appraisal). Tim discussed the letters to be sent to these owners. Simon - 86-1-10.9 - The Committee will go over comps for this appraisal. Ray Blum suggested inviting Gary Taylor, the appraiser, to our next meeting and the Committee will present him with their suggestions. Dickinson - this property is located on Jacobs Lane in Southold. It is 13.4 acres in total. A motion was made by Ray Blum and seconded by Reed Jarvis to have an appraisal prepared. All were in favor. Adams - 56-1-8.1 & 56-1-10 - Melissa will ask Stype to do an appraisal on this. When we get this appraisal, we will re-evaluate the Dowd (56-1-5.1) appraisal. Aliano - there is an environmental issue of a storage tank. Adamowicz - 121-5-4.1 - the County will be picking this up 100%. Rutkoski - 108-2-3 & 115-2-10 - Ray Huntington has been in contact with the above and said it seems like the Rutkoskis want this to happen but are looking for more money. A motion was made by Ray Huntington and seconded by Reed Jarvis to have Given take a look at the appraisal, as 8 months have passed and there could be a change and that any new offer would only be good for 90 days. The motion was not passed, as Ray Blum and Fred Lee voted not. It was suggested that Ray Huntington go back with the original offer. The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 11:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Joyce M. Wilkins Secretary
