TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 2002 AT 7:30 P.M.
MINUTES
Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Huntington, Ray Blum, Marty Sidor, Reed Jarvis,
Melissa Spiro, Tom Wickham, Marian Sumner, Nancy Lucas and Keri Cullen.
Melissa received a call from an attorney re: property next to Neuer/Sutermeister.
The owner's name is Adams. This would be an open space purchase. Melisssa
will get an appraisal on this as well as the two Dowd pieces, as we have never
received the appraisal from Ron Matusa after he continually promised it.
Nancy Lucas of the Nature Conservancy spoke to the Committee about the
Stackler parcels (Pipes Cove). The survey did not show the freshwater wetlands
And mosquito ditches. Nancy and Melissa will discuss this and other things with
Steve Schuster, the appraiser. Tom Wickham suggested that the Committee
pinpoint the per acre price for the wetlands.
Marian Sumner of the Peconic Land Trust spoke to the Committee about the
LeoGrande property 106-6-8 & 106-9-3. There are approximately 28 acres.
Attorney Kevin O'Brien contacted the Peconic Land Trust re: possible
conservation on a portion of the property. The Committee would like to visit this
parcel.
Kedenber~/Stafford - 68-3-7 -it is an 8.9 acre parcel at the end of Henry's
Lane in Peconic. It is a potential Peconic Land Trust purchase and Town
easement.
Simon - 86-1-3.3 - this property is located at the corner of Wells Road and Main
Road, Peconic. We are gettain an appraisal update from Gary Taylor.
Adamowicz - 121-5-4.1 - Melissa will set up a public hearing at the next Town
Board meeting.
Elak - 115-8-3.1 - County appraisal complete and offer made. Marain will find
out what the status is.
Webber- 19-1-11.3 -Melissa ordered an appraisal from Stype on this.
Osprey's Dominion - 83-1-3.3 - Melissa spoke with Ray Fedlun. This will go
on the July Suffolk County Farmland meeting.
Samolewski - 101-1-19.1- these are lots a on Alvah's Lane, Cutchogue. Melissa
has been playing phone tag with him. She will try to meet with him soon.
Bidwell Vineyards - opposite Sacred Heart Cemetery on Depot Lane,
Cutchogue. Reed spoke with them and Melissa will send them a letter.
Melissa spoke to the Committee about the Dickerson property in Hogs Neck.
Betsy Dickerson will speak to her family about farmland preservation.
Keith Scott Morton piece (Van Nostrand farm) in Orient. Melissa will follow up
with Jim Burke. This is approximately 13 acres.
Tom Wickham spoke to the Committee about the Rural Incentive District that is
proposed by the Blue Ribbon Commission. Its purpose is preservation of
farmland and open space over man years and to promote active farming for long
term.
Melissa discussed setting up a follow-up appraisal meeting.
Melissa will be working on Federal Farmland Grant, which is due in July.
The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Tuesday,
June 25, 2002 at 7:30 p.m.
With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 10:15
