TUESDAY, APRIL 30, 2002 AT 7:30 P.M.
MINUTES
Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Blum Ray Huntington, Marty Sider, Bill Edwards,
Fred Lee, Melissa Spire, Tom Wickham and Tim Caufield.
Tim Caufield told the Committee that the Pecenic Land Trust did their first faCade
preservation. This was on the Wines/Gilbert property in Jamesport.
Simon property - 86-1-10.9 - The Peconic Land Trust met with John Simon.
He is looking to do something in the near future. It is a 32 acre parcel on Wells
Road in Peconic. Tim told him that if he is serious about this, the Town could get
an updated appraisal. The Committee suggested that Melissa wait until after the
Committee has its meeting with the appraisers on May 9th.
Lettieri - 31-5-1.2 - The Peconic Land Trust closed on this. They are awaiting
public funds. Melissa and Tim are meeting with Jim Burke from the County.
Aliano - 74-4-4.1, 4, 6 - Tim spoke with Tom Hubbard. He is interested in
getting all six parcels. The appraisal should be in shortly. The Town would
purchase the development rights and the Hubbards the ag rights.
Kedenberg parcel - 68-3-7 -this property is at the end of Henry's Land in
Peconic. The Trust will purchase the property and the Town will hold the
conservation easement. The Town will accept this as a gift and in turn pay for
some administrative costs.
Melissa received a call from Charles Cuddy, who told her that the property on
West Creek Avenue, owned by John Dawson was for sale. The Committee
discussed this property, which is mostly wet. Dick suggested that Melissa contact
Charles Cuddy, as this parcel has recreational value. Tim will check to see if they
have a survey on this property.
Melissa discussed the property owned by Anthony Schmitt - 95-3-8.1 on Oregon
Road with the Committee. An application was received. The property is 54.63
acres. The property is currently in sod production. Randy Parson is representing
the investors, who are the contract vendees. As soon as we get a copy of the
signed contract, Melissa will get an appraisal.
Cullinane - 19-1-1.2 - will be closing on May 22nd.
Ernst - 56-1-11.2 & 56-3-13.3 - Melissa showed the Committee the latest map
of the Ernst property. It was also shown to the Planning Board. Melissa will keep
the Committee posted.
Flower Hill (Uhl) - 69-3-10.1 - The Town Board favors that the Committee go
ahead on this. Melissa will contact Charles Cuddy.
Ackerman - 101-2-4 & 108-3-7 - Melissa met with Bill & Theresa Ackerman
today. We are awaiting the appraisal.
Tom Wickham said he will have Mike Domino of the Tree Committee contact
Fred Lee regarding the Zazecki property (Custer Institute).
Ray Huntington spoke to the Committee re: the Nature Conservancy's Peconic
Estuary Program presentation.
There will be an appraisers' meeting on Thursday, May 9, 2002 from 9a.m. to
lp.m. at the Suffolk County Water Authority Building on Boisseau Avenue in
Southold.
Blue Ribbon Commission - Tom Wickham said that at last nights' meeting the
transfer of development rights was discussed. Tom is having a meeting at his
house on Thursday night. Ray Blum will try to attend.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at 7:30 p.m.
With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at
10:25 p.m.
