TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 2002 AT 7:30 P.M.
MINUTES
Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Huntington, Ray Blum, Reed Jarvis, Marty Sider,
Bill Edwards, Melissa Spire, Tom Wickham, Tim Caufield, Nancy Lucas, Carl
and Gabriella Spielman.
Carl and Gabriella Spielman:
Secured agreement from Tom Uhl to have the Town do an appraisal
Currently has a 13 unit subdivision application
-No status in Planning Board at present
-Next step: Planning Board (Wishful thinking)
Would like to farm it ( at least half efthe apples)
-Probable farm stand
-Organic; Educational
-Plans to jein the Agricultural District (sales>$10,.000)
Plan to sell 3 or 4 building lots
-Fronting on Ackerly Pond Lane
Propose three way sale (Uhl, Spielman, Town)
-Uhl would hold mortgage
Subsequent subdivision
-Probable conservation subdivision
Committee conclusion:
1. Scope the Town Board's intent
2. No Town initiated appraisal at this time
3. Melissa will also look into status at the current application at the
Planning Board.
Nancy Lucas, The Nature Conservancy
Several parcels for appraisals: - Givens $9,300 in 6-8 weeks
- Schuster $5, 500 in 15 days (short form)
Committee decision: give the work to Schuster
-Each parcel addressed separately in the appraisal report
$500,000 in NYS funds via LaValle/McMaher
-Arshamomaque projects
- Needs project write-up
-Short time frame--but money has been in play for years
- Melissa plans to draft proposal with:
Pipes Cove property
McCollayl
Dowd
Tedeski
Melissa Spiro
-NYS grant to Town ($500,000-$600,000) apparently held up on
technicalities, e.g. not available for PDRs of land in corn(!)
-Melissa will engage them further on this and will explore using funds to
finance Lettieri purchase.
