HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-11/12/2002LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2002 AT 7:30 P.M. MINUTES Present were: Ray Blum, Ray Huntington, John Sepenoski, Fred Lee, Reed Jarvis, Bill Edwards, Eric Keil, Melissa Spiro, Tom Wockham, Tim Caufield and Ed Booth. Tim Caufield and Ed Booth met with the Planning Board today to go over the proposed subdivision. He will do a conservation easement with the Peconic Land Trust on his property up on the sound and protect the waterfront. Melissa said the appraisal should be in soon on this. Tim also spoke to the Committee about the Frances Nielsen parcel (5-1-8) on Fishers Island. They want to have this finished by the end of the year. Melissa will set up a public hearing with the Town Board. Melissa has spoke with Ed Harbes 112-1-7. There are about 36 acres involved. The Committee would be interested in this property; however, he has not put in an application as yet. The Dickersons' (88-1-10) contract is out. All old vehicles and unusable greenhouses are to be removed from the land hat the Town is purchasing the development rights on. Franks Wills parcel - he would like to preserve this parcel, which is less than an acre. The committee suggested perhaps he could donate it to the Town. Tom Wickham said perhaps some of his neighbors would be interested in purchasing this. At 8:45 the Committee went into executive session to discuss appraisals Melissa received today. Dowd - 56-1-5.1 - This would be an open space purchase. This would add to the Arshamomaque Preserve. A motion was made by Bill Edwards and seconded by Fred Lee to make an offer on this. All were in favor. Adams - 56-1-8.1 - approximately 27.7 acres. These are two parcels separated by a right-of-way. A motion was made by Eric Keil and seconded by Reed Jarvis to make an offer on this. All were in favor. McFeeley - 125-1-14 - This would be a 50/50 purchase with the County. It is approximately 22 acres. A motion was made by Reed Jarvis and seconded by Eric Keil to purchase this with the County. All were in favor. Stankewicz property (Orient) is for sale. They are looking for $1.9 million. Eric asked Melissa to send a letter suggesting a bargain sale. Melissa asked the committee for suggestions and comments on the proposed rule for the Farmland Protection Program. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 Respectfully submitted, Joyce M. Wilkins Secretary
