M1NUTES
Present were: Dick Ryan, Ray Huntington, Bill Edwards, Ray Blum, Martin
Sider, Fred Lee, Reed Jarvis, Melissa Spire, Tim Caufield, Greg Yakabeski,
Heather Lanza, Nancy Lucas and Chris Griffith.
Status list:
Aurichio - 56-4-16 - Melissa and Dick met with Greg Yakaboski. Greg is still
working with Bill Price. The right of first refusal is being discussed. As per Greg,
the grass problem has been solved.
Levin - 44-4-5, 45-1-9 - The Town Attorney told the Committee that this closing
took place today on 53 acres.
Strawberry Fields - 113-12-15 - Greg said that the contracts were out. It will be
County owned and Town managed.
Barney Sider - 115-2-9.1 - Contract has been signed. The Town Board hearing is
scheduled for October 23rd.
Lettieri - 31-5-1.2 - This is open space property by Dam Pond. The Peconic
Land Trust has been negotiating with them for quite a few years. The Peconic
Land Trust will be able to buy it for $950,000.00 and then it turn sell it to the
Town and County for the same price plus soft costs.
The three representatives from the Nature Conservancy, Heather Lanza, Nancy
Lucas and Chris Griffith spoke to the Committee regarding their interest in the
Pipes Cove area. They explained what their goals were and how they would work
with the Town. A motion was made by Ray Huntington and seconded by Bill
Edwards to recommend to the Town Board that the Town hire the Nature
Conservancy for $15,000.00 for the year to work on the Pipes Cove area. All
were in favor.
The Committee received a copy of the Sullivan/Moenius appraisal (122-2-8.1 &
24). This property is located on the southerly side of Sound Avenue in Mattituck.
Ray Blum will be the negotiator.
Robert Schreiber - 95-1-4 - Melissa gave the Committee a copy of an updated
appraisal on this property. Melissa will make an offer to Mr. Schreiber.
The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Tuesday,
October 30, 2001 at 7:30 p.m.
With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 10:35 p.m.
