HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-10/15/2002LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2002 AT 7:30 P.M. MINUTES Present were: Ray Blum, John Sepenoski, Ray Huntington, Eric Keil, Bill Edwards, Reed Jarvis, Fred Lee, Melissa Spiro, Tom Wickham, Tim Caufield, Bob Van Bourgondien, Betsy and Parker Dickerson. Tim Caufield told the Committee of his meeting with John Simon. He is still interested but told Tim that our number for development rights is low. Tim said he visited Fishers Island and there is a landowner who would like to make a donation of an easement to the Town.or with the Peconic Land Trust. Ray Blum asked Tim to get more information on it. It would be a perpetual easement. A motion was made by Reed Jarvis and seconded by Eric Keil for the Town to accept this donation. All were in favor. McBride/Aliano - Tim met with Nick Aliano Sr. and Jr. the Alianos want to do the subdivision themselves. Appraisals will be ordered on these parcels. Ray Blum spoke to Betsy Dickerson (88-1-10) and made an offer on this property. The buildings on their property would be out of the sale. It would then leave approximately 10 acres for development rights. Betsy had to discuss the offer with her husband and Chet Dickerson. The Dickersons agreed to the offer. The Committee will recommend to the Town Board to purchase the development rights on this property. Melissa had an inquiry from Frank Wills, who was on the Blue Ribbon Commission. He has property that he would like to preserve. It is in the Capt. Kidd Estates. McFeele¥ - 123-1-14 - this property is located by Laurel Lake. This would be a 50/50 acquistion by the Town and the County. Ted Dowd - 56-1-5.1 - It is approximately 7.3 acres. Melissa received a letter from Mr. Dowd and gave a copy of it to the Committee. Fred Lee told the Committee that he spoke to Mr. Lamaga re: Zazecki property. He said he would consolidate the model of the solar system to fit on this property. The Committee also discussed other uses for this property. Ray Blum wrote a letter to the Supervisor regarding the positions for Melissa' s department. Tom Wickham said that there is strong support on the Town Board to move ahead on this. He said the primary concern is taking an employee from another department, leaving a void in that department. This decision will have to be made by the Town Board. Elak - 115-8-3.3 - It is on the County's Federal grant list, the Town's Federal grant list and the State Ag and Markets list. The County suggested doing a 50/50 on this. Melissa said there would be some issues with this. The Committee passed motions make offers on Rutkoski, Dickerson, Elak, Simon and Shur. Melissa will call each of these people to meet with her at her office with Ray Blum With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Joyce M.
