TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2003 AT 7:30 P.M.
MINUTES
Present were: Ray Blum, Ray Huntington, John Sepenoski, Reed Jarvis, Bill
Edwards, Fred Lee, Eric Keil, Melissa Spiro, Scott Hughes, Tom Wickham, Tim
Caufield and Bob VanBourgondien.
Ed Booth - 51-2-8 - He accepted the offer but would like a 3¼ acre horse arena
(30,000 sq ft bldg.) anywhere on this property. The Committee felt he should add
to his reserved area. A motion was made by Reed Jarvis and seconded by Bill
Edwards to deny the request for a floating structure on this property and that the
Committee would look at a request for an agriculture structure in the future. All
were in favor.
Marco - 98-1-1.3 - Tim Caufield spoke to the Committee about this property.
They are interested in offering a 15 acre parcel at this time. A motion was made
by Reed Jarvis and seconded by Eric Keil for Tim to begin baseline
documentation on this plan. All were in favor.
R. Magg - 94-3-1.3 - There are 12.5 acres offered for preservation. It is on the
market for sale. A motion was made by Eric Keil and seconded by John
Sepenoski to have an appraisal done on this for the intention of purchasing the
development rights. All were in favor.
Joe Shipman - 108-3-5.44 & 5.45 - There are two parcels. One is 6.7 acres and
the other is 9.4 acres being offered. Melissa will speak to him about the
covenants and restrictions. A motion was made by Ray Huntington and seconded
by Eric Keil that an appraisal be ordered subject to a discussion about the value
expected by the owner. All were in favor.
At 9:00 p.m. the Committee went into executive session to discuss appraisals.
McBride - 83-2-16 - Tim met with Richie and Jim McBride. Tim would like to
have access to the appraisal so he can have some documentation when he speaks
to the owner. Melissa will speak to Greg Yakaboski about sharing the appraisal
with Tim Caufield, our facilitator.
Webber - 19-1-11.3 - A motion was made by Bill Edwards and seconded by John
Sepenoski to make an offer to Mr. Webber on 5.9 acres, allowing his request for a
one acre building envelope. All were in favor.
Lloyd Terry Estate - 20-1-1.3 & 20-3-3. An application will be filed. A motion
was made by Eric Keil and seconded by Fred Lee to order an appraisal on this
subject to an application being filed. All were in favor.
69-3-13 - Melissa received an inquiry on this property located on Ackerly Pond
Lane. It is a small parcel with wetlands. It was suggested that this be turned over
to Tim Caufield.
Frank Wills - 106-1-7 - Bill Edwards will speak to him about a bargain sale.
Jim McMahon is now working in Melissa's office 50% of the time. He is
working on management and stewardship.
The next County Farmland meeting is on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 3:00 p.m.
in Hauppauge.
The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Thursday,
January 23, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. Jim McMahon and Greg Yakaboski will be invited
to attend.
With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
