MINUTES
Present were: Ray Huntington, Ray Blum, Bill Edwards, Fred Lee, Reed Jarvis,
Marty Sidor, and Melissa Spiro.
Ray Blum spoke to the committee about the findings and recommendations of the
Blue Ribbon Commission and the Rural Incentive District. These
recommendations will be given to the Town Board sometime in July.
The Committee received a copy of a letter of resignation from Dick Ryan,
Chairman/member of the Land Preservation Committee. The Committee felt that
Dick was a great asset and will be missed.
Marty Sidor will be resigning from the Land Preservation Committee, as he has
been appointed to the Planning Board. The Committee wished him well.
Melissa said that the Nature Conservancy was supposed to come tonight but the
appraiser did not finish his re-evaluation of the Stackler properties.
The Federal Farmland Grant application is due July 15th. Melissa is meeting with
Tim Caufield tomorrow to work on this.
Aliano - 74-4-4.1 - closing will be early in July.
Simon - 86-1-10.9 - Melissa and Tim met with Mr. Simon. We are awaiting an
updated appraisal.
Samolewski - 101-1-19.1 -this property is located at Alvah's Lane and C.R. 48
in Cutchogue. The Committee discussed this application and asked Melissa to
invite Mr. Samolewski to our meeting. Melissa suggested asking Mark Terry
from the Planning Board to also attend. She will make the arrangements.
Ackerman - 101-2-4 & 108-3-7- there are some right-of-way issues. Melissa is
reviewing.
Adamowicz - 121-5-4.1 - a public hearing is set for July 2, 2002 at 8:00 p.m.
Lettieri - 31-5-1.2 - & Dam Pond - 22-3-22.1 -Melissa give the committee a
copy of the Peconic Land Trust proposed management plan. Ray Huntington
gave the Committee a copy o fthe Open Space Pre-Planning Checklist tht he
formulated. The Committee reviewed it and made some changes.
Reed Jarvis suggested that Melissa send a letter to Bidwell re: purchasing their
development rights.
McGunnigle - 106-6-14 -Ray Blum said it is getting more and more overgrown.
Melissa will see if can be farmed. She will also check out the tax assessor issue.
The Committee discussed the possibility of a farmer renting it from the Town
once it is purchased by the Town.
LeoGrande Family Trust - 106-6-3 (19.9 acres called East Wind Farm) and
106-6-8 (8.4 wooded acres). Reed, Ray Blum and Ray Huntington did an
inspection of this property which is located Cox Neck Road/Mill Road, Mattituck.
Melissa suggested updating our farmland inventory, as it has not been done since
1999. Reed will check out possibly doing it from a helicopter.
The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Tuesday,
July 9, 2002 at 7:30 p.m.
With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
