Land Preservation Committee Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, October 14, 2003 7:30 P.M.
Present were: Ray Huntington, John Sepenoski, Bill Edwards, Fred Lee and Eric Keil
as well as Melissa Spiro and Tom Wickham.
Previous minutes (9/30/03) were accepted as corrected.
Land Preservation: Applications:
SCTM# 1000-84-4-6.1 (Dubner in executive session) Northside of Rt. 48 near Cox
Lane. Discussed status and determined new offer recommendation. Moved by
Edwards, seconded by Keil, motion carried. Negotiator is Spiro.
SCTM# 1000-84-1-8 (Dubner in executive session) Southside of Rt. 48 near Cox Lane.
Discussed status and determined new offer recommendation. Moved by Edwards,
seconded by Sepnoski, motion carried. Negotiator is Spiro.
SCTM#1000-122-1-2.2, 2.3 (Grippa in executive session) Discussed status and
appraisal. Offer provisionally accepted subject to bargain sale. LPC concurred.
Landowner will appraise, determine IRS position on bargain sale. Land use similar to
Booth contract. Negotiator Spiro with PLT assisting.
SCTM# 1000-63-3-18.1 (Peconic Design) Northside Main Road in Southold -- 4 acres
of farmland plus an HB portion. Discussed status and it was determined to await the
return of the negotiator Ray Blum.
SCTM# 1000-83-2-9.17 (Manzi Homes) Northside of Oregon (North)Road east of Cox
Lane- approximately 17 acres to be preserved. Discussed appraisal and determined
offer recommendation. Moved by Edwards, seconded by Keil, motion carried
unanimously. Negotiator is Spiro.
SCTM# 1000-75-7-6 (Pearson) - Between Richmond Creek and South Harbor Road in
Peconic. Determined that Ray Huntington would visit to further ascertain landowner's
expectations prior to decision about appraisal.
Coordinator's Report:
· Status Update dated 10/14/03 provided.
· Review of new contract/deed language format familiarization in process with further
refinements coming from our contacted legal counsel.
· Planning and Zoning meeting Oct. 15th @ 7:30 re: Presentation of Compromise
Plan for Land Preservation.
· TB public hearing Oct. 21st @ 5:0? Re: Forestbrook and Hurtado purchase
· County Info meeting re: Reverse Auction: Oct. 23 @ 6:00 County Center,
Riverhead.
· County Farmland Committee meeting: Oct. 28th @ 6 @ Riverhead Cornell (Sound
Ave.)
