HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-02/03/2004LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING Minutes of Regular Meeting held Tuesday, February 3, 2004 Present: Ray Blum, Fred Lee, John Sepenoski, Michelle Zaloom, Eric Keil as well as Melissa Spiro, Bill Edwards, Melanie Doroski The meeting commenced at 8:45 p.m. NO MOTION to accept minutes of January 13, 2004, meeting was made. Land Preservation Stewardship/Management CUSTER PROPERTY SCTM #: 1000-70-8-1 Location: Main Bayview Road, Southold Discussion: Review Custer Preserve Site Plan Committee members reviewed plan prepared by Jamie Richter, Town Engineering Inspector, in accordance with Tree Committee proposal for arboretum and tree nursery use. Questions were raised concerning permissible use [LPC determined use allowed under CPF]; and maintenance [Jim McMahon as Steward/Manager under CPF and Dept. of Public Works, and Tree Committee to maintain]. Concerns were raised about overgrown tree maintenance, and general maintenance of property. Question was raised as to the species used in arboretum being native or non-native and there are concerns about non-native varieties. John Sepenoski raised an issue concerning invasive plant life and all agreed that no invasive species are to be introduced to the area. Melissa to bring LPC's concerns to the attention of Jim McMahon. Land Preservation: Applications GRIPPA PROPERTIES (Executive Session) SCTM #: 1000-122-1-2.2 Acreage: +11.9 acres (easement area +9.5 acres) Location: 1100 County Route 48, Mattituck Zoned: R-40 SCTM #: Acreage: Location: Zoned: 1000-122-1-2.3 +0.92 acre 9525 Sound Avenue, Mattituck R-40 A motion was made by Fred Lee, seconded by John Sepenoski, to accept the owner's (Grippa) counter-offer. Purpose of acquisition is for the purchase of development rights and for a scenic easement on County Route 48 and Sound Avenue and the original contract is to remain as written except for changes reflecting the counter-offer. Motion carried 5/0. WICKHAM ESTATE PROPERTY (Executive Session) SCTM #: 1000-101-1-8.1 Location: County Route 48, Cutchogue Acreage: 32.2 acres Zoned: A-C LPC members discussed conditions set forth by property owner. No change in offer recommendation. Eric Keil suggested the possibility of an appraisal update. Other: · Melissa Spiro brought up issues to be discussed at next LPC meeting.
