The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor
Norman E. Ktipp at Greenport~ on Tuesday~ December 8~
19~3. The meeting was called ~o order at 1:30 P.M. with
the following present: Supervisor Klipp~ Justices Terry~
Tuthill~ Albertson and Clark~ Town Superintendent of ·
Highways Price; Town Attorne~ Terry a~d Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine
claims against the Town~ concluding the Audit wor~ at
2 o'clock P.M.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be
an~ hereby are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry~
Tuthill~ Al~ertson and Clark.
Moved by J~tice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Albertson:
RESOLVED: That the annual Audit meeting of this Board be
held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at
Greenport, on Wednesday, December 30~ 19~3~ at 155 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry~
Tuthill~ Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That effective as of December l~ 19~3~ compen-
sation for clerks for the Receiver of Taxes ~e set at
Nine Dollars ($9.00) per day~ payable in regular month-
ly payments.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry~
Tuthill~ Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthi~l; seconded by Justice Clark:
WHEREAS~ the Town Superintendent of Highways did on the
8th day of December~19~3, duly recommend the purchase
of ~O0 feet of snow fence.
NOW~~ THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That Superintendent of
Highways is hereby authorized to purchase from the
Municipal Machinery Corporation of Coram~ N.Y.~ 500 feet
of snow fence at a cost of $97~.00~ to be delivered at
Peconic~ N.Y.

Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Joseph H. Sawicki be and he hereby is
appointed permanently as Southold Town Police Patrolman
(Constable) and be it further
RESOLVED: That Joseph H. Sawicki be compensated for such
service at the rate of Eleven Dollars ($11.O0) per day,
payable in regular bi-weekly payments~ and be it further
RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of December
12~ 19~3.

The following bonds were presented to the Board for approval.

RESOLVED: That Bond No. S~17749~ issued by the American
Motorists Insurance Company in the sum of $~00.OO~ on
behalf of Joseph H. Sawicki~ be and the smme is hereby
approved as to its form~ sum~ manner of execution and
sufficiency of surety therein.

Surety Company on behalf of Ralph P. Booth, in the sum of

sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety therein.

RESOLVED: That the PoliCe Report for the month of November
be accepted by the Board and placed on file.

Town Trustees Account in the amount of $42.20~ Lighting

same are hereby ordered paid.

At 2 o'clock P.M. in. accordance with a notice published
according to~Law~ bids wer~ opened for proposals to furniS~
.the Town of Southold one Crawler tractor and Bulldozer accsrd-
mng to specifications.
There being only one bid submitted which was by the Long
Island Produce and Fertilizer ~ompany for a total cost of
$6221.~?~, trade-in allowance on a Terratrac Tractor
$1721.7~, net delivery price $4~00.00.
The following resolution offered by Justice Albertson;
seconded by, Justice Terry:
RESOLVED: That Norman E. Kl~pp, Supervisor, be and he
hereby is authorized to purchaseofrom the Long Island
Produce and Fertilizer Company, outhold~ N.Y._one 4 cyl.
Gasoline Crawler Tractor and Bull ~o~er at a total ~rice of
$6221.7~ Trade-in allowance on a used Terratrac Tractor
$1221.7~ net delivery price $4500o00~ providing that it is
in his opinion satisfactory for the ~urpose it is to be used.
Said tract'or to be delivered at the ~outhold Town Dump at
Cutchogue,~N.Y. .

Alsonat the above given time~ bids were opened to furnish

The lowest bid was submitted by the Long Island Priduce and
Fertilizer Company.
The following resolution was offered by Justice Albertson;
seconded by Justice Terry:
WHEREAS~ the Town Superintendent of Highways did on the 8th
day of December~ 19~ duly recommend the purchase of
certain equipment pur~suant to the provisions of~Section 152
of the Highway Law~ ~nd a notice of such recommendation
has been ~uly published as provided in such section.
NOW~ THEREFORE BE iT RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 142
and 103 of the General Municipal Law of the Highway Law
the Town Superintendent of Highweys is hereby authorized to
purchase from LQ~g ~deBroduce &Fertilizer Company
with the approval of the County Superintendent ofHighwaYs:
one R-162 International Dump Truck 2 Ton Chassis
for a total of Two Thousand six hundred fifteen & ~/1OO
Dollars ($2~61~.00)~ delivered at Peconic~ L.I.~ N.Y.
and to be delivered on or about December 30, i953.
The Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized
subject to the approval of the Uounty Superintendent of
Highways~ to surrender to the above-named vendor
One 1947 KB8 International Dump Truck
as part payment for the above equipment to be purchased.
The terms of payment will be as follows:

A contract of purchase' for the item purchased shall be duly
executed oetween the Town Superxntendent of mghwa~s and
such vendor, and when duly~ approved by the County 'uperin-
tendent ofE~ighways~ it shall become effective. When such
contract has been duly executed and approved~ the Supervisor
is authorized to complete such purchase upon delivery of
the item purchased in accordance with the terms of such res-
olution and such contr~ct~ and to pay the above amount
specified to be paid by check
(1) by a check drawn on the Machinery Fund
