The meeting w~s ~lled to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present, Supervisor Klipp;. Justices Terry~ Tuthill~ Albertson and Clark~ To~m Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine cladms against the Town concluding the Audit work, at 2~1~ P.M. Moved by Justice Clark~ seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Totem Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry~ Tuthill, Albertson and Clark, Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the following persons be and hereby are appointed Fire Department Inspectors in their respective Fire Departments to serve in such capacity ontil Januaryi~ in accordance with Art~c!e 8~ Section 3035 Subdivision 45 of the Multiple Resident ~aw. Klipp~ Supervisor~ be and hereby is authorized to enter i-nto an extention of lease contract No. DA30-O7~-Eng-l~38, Supplemental Agreement ~o. 2 between the Secretary of the Army and the Town of ou~hold~ Suffolk County~ New York~ for the use of the Airfield and Hangar B~iiding No. 251+~ and Buildings Nos. 1-36~ and 127~ located at Fort H.G. Wright~ Fishers s!and~ New York~ at a rental rate of Twelve Dollars ($12.00) per am_uum~ payable annually in advance from January 1~ 19~3.to December 31~ 19~3. Hines be and hereby is appointed Life Guard of the Southold Totem Bathin~ Beac~ to ~ct in such capacity seven days a week from 1.00 P.M~ to 6:'00 P.M. and be it further RESOLVED: That aull H. Hines be compensated for such service at the rate of $1,20 per hour~ and be it further RESOLVED: That this appointmeht take effect as of June 12~ 19~ and be it further RESOLVED: That Paull H, Hines serves in such capacity at the pleasure of the Southold Town Board~ and be it further RESOLVED: That compensation for such service be made in regular monthly payments. Anne ~ont~ome~y of this village a communication in which among other things she deplores the apathy of professed nristlans toward "houses of ill repute" which she and the public press say flourish here; and !~JYREAS~ web~elieve' that our community shouid become the best or'communities in ~rder that our chi!dren~ which we consider the most important of crops~ should be reared ih a wholesome atmosphere~ do ~ge that every possibie effort be exerted by the viiiage board~ by ~he to~n board and by the District Attorney's office to eliminate any known illegal or sinful conditions existing in our beloved town; and ~gHEREAS~ we the members of this Society feel that democracy is a grass roots business~ which is sound only as local government is sound; and ~EREAS~ we also believe that silence and inaction on the part of accurately~ informed well-meaning citizens is death to democracy~ be it RESOLVED: that we~ the members of this Woman's Society of Christian Service shall support and encourage those public officials who demonstrate by their attitudes and actions a sincere and honest desire for good government and those~ who by their decisions and policies see ~o it that justice is meted out to all citizens~ irrespective of class~ color or creed~ and BE IT FURTheR RESOLVED~ that a copy of this resolution be sent to Mrs, Anne Montgomery; to the ~il!age Board; to the Town Board; to the District Attorney's Office; to the Suffolk County Republican Committee; and to hss Honor~ ~he Governor Of the State of New York. Moved by Justice A!bertson; seconded by Justice Tuthi!!: RESOLVED: That the Town Board instruct the Supervisor to communicate with the Woman's Society of the Methodist Church of Greenport~ Long Is!and~ and request that a committee of this Socdety be appointed to attend the ne~t meeting o~ the Town Board which will be held on June 30th~ i9~3~ to discuss t~e matters stated in the a~ove resolution.
