The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor
Norman E. Klipp ~ Greenports on Tuesdays April 7~ 1953. The
meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.~o with the,following
present: SuperVisor Klipp; Justices Terrys Tuthills Zlbertson
and Cl~rk; Town Attorney Terry ~nd Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once cs a committee on Audit to examine
claims against the Town~ concluding the Audit work at 2 P,M.
Moved by Justice Clark~ seconded by Justice Alb.ertson~
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and
hereby are duly approYed as read.

RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of th~s Board

RESOLVED: That Rensselaer G, Terry~ Jr.~ Town Attorney~
Edwin S. Conklih~ Building Inspector for the Town of Southold
and the JuStices of the Peace!fare hereby authorized to
attend a Public Conference of ~he State Building Code Comm-
ission to be held at the Garden City Hotels Garden City~
New York~ on May ll~ 19~3~ and be it f~ther
RESOLYED: That the above persons be reimbursed for their
necessary and actual expenses incurred while attending the
meeting.

R~SOLVED: That inasmuch as the required dedication has been
duly receiveds Map of same duly filed and the neoessary
papers signeds the Town Board take over and maintain as a
public highway "Bayview Avenue"s situated at Arshamomoque
intthe Town of Southold~ Suffolk ~ounty~ New Yor~.

RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp~ Supervi§or~ be and he hereby
is authorized to enter into a temporary agreemen~ with the
Village of Greenports New York~ for the use bY the Village
of Greenport of the radio facilities of the SoutholdW Town
Police Department~ terms of the agreement subject to the
approval of the Southold Town ~oard.

A bommunication was received from Thomas J. ~!ouEher of
Cutchogues relative to a contribution towar~ th~icost of
dredging the channel at the mouth of Wickham§ Cr~ek~ at
Cutchogue.
Moved by Justice C!ark~ seconded by Justice Tuthi~!:
RESOLVED: That the Town Board be authorized ~o c0~tribu~e
the sum of Four H~dred and Se~enty-fm~e Dol~ars($475.00)
towards the cost of dredging the channel at the mOuth of
Wickhams Creek~ Cutchogue.

A communication was received from Barney P. Harris~ Town ~
Constable~ requesting a leave of absence for one year without
pay from his duties at the Police Department. He ~ater re-
signed orally from the Police Force at a meeting of the
Police Committee held at the office of the Supervisor on
March 23~ t9~3.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the leave of absence requested by Barney P.
Harris~ Town Constable~ for one year without pay be denied.
The Board felt that if he above request was granted~ it would
establish a precedent and wou~d not be in the best interest
of the Town of Southold.

RESOL~ZED: That the resignation of Barney P. Harris~ Constable
of the Tovm of Southol~ be accepted with regret~ effective
ss of April 9~ 19~3.

~.~qEREAS~ there is a vacancy in the Southold Police Depart-
ment caused by the resignation of Barney P. Harris~
NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT
RESOLVED: That Joseph Sawiski be appointed temporary Police
Patrolman (Constable) of the Tovm of Southold~ effective
as of April 6~ 19~3~ and be it further
RESOLVED: That Joseph Sawiski be compensated for such service
in the amount of Ten Dollars and Fifty Cents ($10.~0) per
day~ payable in regular bi-weekly ins~llments.

RESOLVED: That General Bills in t~e sum of $~833.89~
Lighting Bills in the sum of $1~378.86~ Fishers Island
Ferry District Bills in the s~ of $6~841.~7 be and the
same are hereby ordered paid.

~EREAS~ The Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry
District have entered into a contract for bid for carrying
of U.S. Mail from New London~ Conn. to Fishers Island~ New
York~ and
k~EREAS~ the said Commissioners have requested approval of
their acts by the Town Board~
NOW~ THEREFORE~ ~BE IT RESOLVED: That the Act~ of the Comm-
issioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District in entering
into a contractlfor bid for carrying U.S. Mail f~m Ju~y i~
19~3 to June 30~ t9~?~ be approwed and that the Supervisor
and the Justice of the Peace o~ Fishers Island be and they
are authorized to issue the proper certificate indicating
such approval.
