COUNCILMAN WICKHAM: I have before me, a memorandum from the Poline Chief recommending the proposed Local Law and I have and a certification that it has appeared on the Town Clerk's bulletin board and as a legal in the newspaper. SUPERVISOR HORTON: Would anyone from the public care to address the Town Board on this public hearing that relates to a local law of no parking on Traveler Street? JOAN EGAN: Joan Egan, East Marion. I don't quite get the picture where he is talking about, to be very honest with you, in relationship, let's say to the Traveler-Watchman office. You know there is a one way street coming up from Main Street and then there is United Parcel at the end and then to the right is Traveler-Watchman and then as you head west on the north side of the road. So where exactly are they saying no parking? SUPERVISOR FIORTON: Okay, east of the Traveler-Watchman, as you go east you would see the train depot on the north side of the road, directly across the street on the southern side of Traveler, there is a municipal parking lot with a vehicle entrance to that parking lot. The proposed action is to prohibit parking from that curb, for the curb cut into the municipal parking lot and 20 feet west of that. Therefore, you won't have a car parked there and have another car coming out of that municipal parking lot ~vith a blind spot for oncoming traffic. So it is essentially only 20 feet from the westerly curb of the municipal parking lot on the street behind us. MRS. EGAN: Were the Traveler-Watchman thoroughly informed, tJ~e newspaper, informed of this? They should have been, certainly it was advertised, right, Mr. Wickham? And I am sure that it was advertised in the Traveler-Watchman. SUPERVISOR HORTON: Mrs. Egan, it was advertised in the Traveler-Watchman and they were informed. MRS. EGAN: Good. Thank you. SUPERVISOR HORTON: Since they advertised it. MRS. EGAN: Sometimes they don't read their own ads. SUPERVISOR HORTON: Would anyone else care to address the Town Board on this public hearing? (No response) We will close this public hearing. Southold Town Clerk
