Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl; RESOLVED: That the minutes of the Special Meeting of July 19, 1961, be and they hereby are duly approved. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justice Tuthill; Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the minutes of July 25, 1961, be and they hereby are duly approved. Moved by Councilman Grathwohl; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the Town Board make its official visit to Fishers.Island on Tuesday, August 15, 1961, The meeting will be called to order at 1:30 P.M. The Supervisor is hereby authorized to provide transportation. The boat~will leave Sterling Marina in Sreenport, N.Y. at 9:00 A.M. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be directed to contact Charles Rotteveel and inform him that his services as school traffic officer at the corner of Main Road and Oaklawn Avenue will no longer be required,- in accordance with a request received from Southotd School District %5. At 3:30 P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish to the Town of Southold one (1) used TD~ International Cmawler Tractor or equal with one cubic yard hydraulic bucket loader, a used 1952 T6 International Crawler Tractor to be taken in tradea as part payment. Only one bid was submitted, the L.I. Produce and Fertilizer Co., Bids were held over for further study. Moved by. Councilman Grath~ohl; seconded by Justice Tuthill; WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. Charles C. Watts, G. I. and G. W. Mueller and Mrs. John Alden request a 35 MPH limit on Bay Avenue, Cutchogue, N.Y. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized to con-~tunicate with .the State Traffic Commission and request it to establish maximum spe~d limits of 35 MPH on Bay Avenue, Cutchogue, ~'and that the Supervisor further communicate with the Commissioner of Public Works a~ r~q~=~t and request him to ma~e a similar request to the New York State Traffic Commission. Albeftson for the seven months ending July 31, 1961 be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town board: Ayes-Conncilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justice Tuthill. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, the annual budget for the'current fiscal year includes an approp- riation in the amount of $1,200 ~or Contingent Fund (account~no. P99-00), and WHEREAS, of such sum so appropriated, $1,200 remains unexpended to~date% and WHEREAS, after due allowance for outstanding claims and further expend- itures chargeable against such appropriation or account, there is an unex- pended balance in said appropriation or account of $1,200.00, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED~ That $617.28 of said unexpended balance.~ be and the same hereby is transferred to State Retirement System ACcount no. P80-45 and that the amount heretofore appropriated for said purpose be and same hereby is increased in the amount of $617.28~ Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson~ Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justice Tuthill. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthilt; WHEREAS, the annual budget for the current fiscal year includes an ~approp- riation in the amount of $150.00 for Town Councilmen-other expense ~(Account No. 7-30A), and WHEREAS, of such sum appropriation $150.00 remains unexpended to date, and WHEREAS, after due allowance for outstanding claims and further expenditures chargeable against such appropriation or account, there is an unexpended balance in said appropriation or account of $150.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That $150~00 of said unexpended balance be and the same hereby is transferred to Justice of Peace equipment-(Account No. 6-20 and that the amount heretofore appropriated for said purpose3be and the same hereby As increased in the amount of $150.00. Moved by Councilman Grathwohl; seconded by Justice Tuthill; RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to reque~the Long Island Lighting Company to remove two (2) 100 cp street lights on poles No. 163J and 166J and install three (3)~mercury vapor street lights on poles 163J, 166J and 536 on Main Road, Cutchogue, N.Y. in front ofthe Methodist Church, all in the Cutchogue Light District. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill; WHEREA'S, Southold Town Planning Board has p~epared an official report and recommendation upon the petition of Woodhollow Properties, Inc., Orient, N.Y. for a change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District on certain property at Orient, N.Y., NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at the office of the Supervisor 16'South Street, Greenport, NiY. at 7:30 P.M. on the aforesaid petition to amend~the Build- ing Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold including the Building Zone Maps, as follows: By changing from "A" Residential and AGricultural District to "B" Business District the following described property: ALL that tract or parcel of land situated at Orient, N.Y., in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, and more particularly bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a point on the southerly side of the Main Road which point marks the northwesterly corner of premises herein described and the north- easterly corner of land of the State of New York; thence running along the southerly side of Main Road, North 87 degrees 09 minutes 20 seconds East 151.72 feet to land of the United States Government; thence, running by last mentioned land, south 11 degrees 43 minntes 20 seconds East. 752 feet, to the ordinary highwater mark of Gardiner's Bay; thence running southwest- erly along the ordinary highwater mark of Gardiner's Bay the tie line of which bears South 39 degrees 44 minutes 40 seconds West 348.41 feet tO land of the State of New York; thence running by last mentioned land, North 4 degrees 40 minutes 45 seconds West 1000 feet to the southerly side of the Main Road, at the point or place of beginning, and BE IT RESOLVED:Further~ That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed to cause a notice of said hearing to be published in the Suffolk Times, according to the requirements of law, and that ~he Town Clerk also cause notice of such hearing to be given to the Long Island State Commission pursuant to Section 264 of the Town Law. Terry, Building Inspector, for the month of July be accepted by the Town Board andplaced on file. Vote of Town Board: AYes-Supervisor Albertson;C^ ouncllmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justice Tuthill. The approval of Southold Development Corporation plot ~3~ KNOWN AS "FAIRVIEW PARK" at Southotd, N.Y. by the-Southold Town Planning Board was filed by the Town Clerk. The Supervisor informed the Town Board that there would bea hearing on the N.Y. State Navigation/~WAugust 9, 1961, at Riverhead County. Center. Copies of letters from Congressman Barry to the President of the United States and Secretary of Interior were received, in relation to theclass- ification of islands formed off shore by tidal action, storms or shifting current s. The extension of Orient Light District was discussed and Councilman Demar- est informed the Board that he was discussing this with the Long Island Lighting Company and would report back to the Board. The Supervisor reported that in accordance with the wishes of the Town Board, he had been able to procure the necessary landing mats to construct a temporary ramp at the end of First Street, New Suffolk and that the same was complete and in use. The Supervisor reported to the Board that much of the area of the.Town Dump had been covered and discarded potato~s had been treated with lime. A letter was received from Aleda Mulligan, Mattituck, N.Y. concerning an accident she had had on Thursday, July 27, 1961. After conferring with the TOWn Attorney~ Th~.~hief~of Police and the Supt. of Highways, Super- visor Albertson was directed to-informMrs. Mulligan that this accident did not.happen on Town property. A petition was received from ten residents of the Town of Southo!d request- ing certain regulations relating to boating and skiing in and about the shores and inlets of the villages of Peconic and Southold. The Supervisor was directed to contact representatives of the group and request that the area involved be more accurately defined. A letter was received from John Lehner of Lake Drive, Southold, N.-Y. in- forming the Board of road conditions in his area. The letter was referred to the Supt. of Highways for his action.
