The meeting was called~to Order at 3:00 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Grathwohl'and Demarest; JuStices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney 'Tasker; Supt. of Highways Price and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, John Higgins has applied to the Town Board'for a single trailer permit dated April 29, 1961, -NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDL That the application of John Higgins to locate a single trailer on the property of Charles Sage be and hereby is granted for a year around occupancy for a one year period. The minimum side yard setback is 10 feet. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS~ The Southold American Legion GTG Post %803 has applied to the Town Clerk for a Bingo License and W~EREAS~, the Town Board has examined the application and after invest- igatin~ the matter duly made findings and determinations as required by law, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of ~his Board the findings and determin~ations re- quired by law, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to issue a Bingo License to the Southold American Legion GTG Post %803. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl; WH~EAS, Southold Plahning Board has prepared an official report and rec- o~,,endation upon the petition of Ralph and Wilson Glover as executors of the will of Elmira Glover for a change of zone from "A" Residential and AGricultural District to "B" Business District on certain real prop- erty situated in Southold, N.Y., NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That & public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at the Supervisor's Office, Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, June 6, 1961, at 7:00 P.M..on the above mentioned petition and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed to cause a notice of said hearing to be published in the Suffolk Times, pursuant to'the requirements of law. Schultze' application to the B~d of Appeals be returned for the reason that said application was withdrawn by the applicant and no 'hearing or other action was taken by the Board or.Appeals on said application, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson ~e and he hereby is authorized and directed to return to Leffert Edson the sum of $15.00 which accompanied the petition. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, Chapter 68 of the Laws of 1856 as amended by Chapter 825 of the Laws of 1961, authorizes the Town Board of the Town of South old at least 150 days prior to any biennial Town election, to adopt a resolution, sub- ject to a permissive referendum, to change the term of office of Assessors of the Town of Southold from two years to four years, and WHEREAS, the Town Board believes that by increasing the term of office of the~ Assessors to four years and providing for the election of three Assessors at each bienneal Town election, would be for the best interest of the Town, now therefore be it RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold, as follows: Section I. That ~rom and after the thirty-first day of December, next succeeding, the term of office of the Assessors of the Town of Southold, shall be four years. At a biennial Town election next succeeding, three Assessors shall be elected for a term o f two ~e~s and three Assessors shall be elected for a term of four years, and thereafter at each biennial Town election there shall he elected three Assessors for a term of four years. SECTION ~. This resolution shall take effect immediately, and shall he subject to a permissive referendum. Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council thanking the Board for the appropriation and for the interest of the Board in the Historical Council. 2. Burton Potter Post ~185 inviting the Town Board to participate in the Memorial Day parade. 3. May 13 - Property owners of Knollwood Lane, Mattituck, asking repair of road be made at foot of Knollwood Lane. 4. May 23 - Knollwood Lane Property Owners signed by Mrs. Esther Bas'ford thanking the Board for making the necessary repairs requested on May 13th. 5. American Air Service, Inc. advising the Board that they are in pess- ession ~of Air Photos of the Town of Southold to supply to the Town. The Supervisor will obtain further information on same~ 6. John L. Barry, Commissioner of Public Welfare, inviting the Board to Open~guse at the Suffolk Home and Infirmary on May 27th 7. Southold Town Board of Appeals discussing 1. Lighting District Eas%ern Orient ahd 2. Griffin Street Extension, Cutchogue 8. New York State Traffic Commission on speed, Depot Lane, Cutchogue, stating they are making a survey of same. 9. Senator Jacob Javitts relative to the reduction of Coast Guard personnel at Fishers Island, New York. Supervisor Albertson advised the Board that the resolution relating to improvements of existing federal channel atHay Harbor, Fishers Island, ~&s,pa~sed ~y t~e County Board of. Supervisor,~.at.the mee~in~ of May 22nd.~ Supervisor was directed to procure estimates relative to extention for bulkhe~ding at Gull Pond. Adjournment was at 3:30 P.M. Albert W. Richmond Town Clerk
