485 MEE~N~ OF APRIL 25, 1961. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albert- son at Greenport; New, York, on Tuesday, April 25, 1961, ~ne meeting was called to order at 3:00 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Albertson; councilmen Demarest and ~rathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the next regular monthly meeting of this Town Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson at 16 South Street ~reenport, New ¥ork,~n Tuesday, May 9, 1961, at 3:00 P.M. Vote.ofTown Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and ~rathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman ~rathwohl; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RES©LVRD: That the minutes of April 11, 1961, be and they hereby are d~ty~approved. Wote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and ~rathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That Henry Haggerty, Southold, New York~ be and he hereby is appointed Watchman to serve in such capacity at the Southold Town Police Statio~ for a probationary period of six months following the date the &~pointment became effective, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That Henry Haggerty will serve in the capacity of Watchman of the Town of South old at the pleasure of the Town Bc~rd, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the compensation during the probationary period~be fixed at $17.00 per day, five days per week, payable in regular biweekly payments, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this probationary period take effect on May 6, 1961, ~otee ~f Town ~oard: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and ~rathWOhl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Letters were received from Frederick Collins, Mrs. Christopher Fishers, Phil P. ~oodman, Townsend B. Pettit, on erosion. Supervisor Albertson has taken this subject up with the County Executive. A letter wes reCeived from William Collins which was turned over to the Supt. of Highways. Moved by Conncilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman ~rathwohl; RESOLVED: That the Police Committee meet with Civil .Defense and discuss the use of the Police car which is about to be made available to them, add BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Police car be made available to the PoliceDepartment whenever it deems necessary for their use. Letter was received from Colonel Dayton stating~that an alert would take Place Friday, April 28, 1961, at 4:00 P.M. to last about ten minutes. Moved by Councilman ~rathwohl; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to remove ~ne 100 cp street light on pole 26 and install 3 mercury vapor street lights on poles LIL CO. %25,26,and NYT Co. pole %27 on Depot Lane, Cutchogue, N.Y. in front of Our Lady of Astrabrama Church, all in the Cutchogue Light Bistrict. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and ~rathwo~l; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, the Children's Bible Fellowship of New York, Inc. has requested permission to conduct Bible Story Time for children on the~public beaches of Southold Town, RESOLVED= That the Children's Bible Fellowship of New York, N.Y., Inc. be granted~sion to conduct Bible Story Time on Public Beachesin Southold Town since the attendance at these gat~erlings is voluntary and there is no soliciting for funds. Vote of Town =oard: 'Ayes- Supervisor ~]h~on=~ouncilmen Demarest and ~rathwohl= Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Lester M. Atbertson beand he hereby is authorized to enter into a contract for repair of building at Town Beach, Arshamomaqme,-~N.Y. the sum not to exceed $980.00,~ Vote of TOwhBoard: ayes-Supervisor~Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and~ ~rathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by councilman Srathwohl~ W~RREA$, there eXists a contingent fund in the Town of Southold in~ excess of $856.00, and WHEREAS, the Town Board hereby desires to create a fund ~to be kn~owa~as the Construction and Permanent Improvements Fund for the purpose of~,% acquiring lands for drainage purposes,-~:~ NOW, TNEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that ~ere is hereby created the Construct- ion and Permanent Improvements Fund, and IT IS F~R RESOLVED: that the sum of $856.00 of the aforesaid' contin- gent monies be and hereby is transferred to the Construction and Permaneh~t Improvements Fund~ Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen D~arest and Srathwohl; JusticesTmthill and Clark. supervislor Albertson advised the Board that he appointed Curtis. William Norton-as Fire Warden for Robins Island, and that he has also appointed Leander B. ~lover, Jr. and Frank'B. Rogers, Jr.-as Fire Wardens to act in the absenee of the said Curtis William Horton, said appointment made pursuant to Section29 Subdivision 12 of the Town Law and Section 52 Subdivision3 of the Conservation Law. -RESOLVED: That Corwin ~. ~rathwohl, a member of this Board, is hereby designated Superintendent of Fires ofthe Town of SOmthold for the ensu- ing year, to act in case of absence of the Supervisor, and by motion of Justice .Clark andseconded by Councilman Demarest, RESOLVED: that the compensation of ail forest rangers, fire.wardens and assistants employed ~_nder the provisions of Section 29 S~bdivision 12 of the Town Law shall be compensated'at the rate of $1.25 per ha~ and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the aforesaid compensation and all expenses incurred pursuant.tO the provisions of Section 29 Subdivision 12 of. the Town Law shall be a charge upon ~the~Town and paidiby the Town. /vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and ~rathwohl; J~stices Tuthill and Clark. Smith & ~ons requesting a change of zone of~certain~prop- erty situate in South°~d, N.Y. and more fully 'described insaid petition, from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "M" Multiple Residence District, ~ NOW, TNEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED~That the Town Clerk of the Town of South- old be and he hereb6 is ~irected to transmit said petition to.the Rlanning Board in accordance with Section 901, of Article IX of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Tow~ of SOuthold, Suffolk County, New York, Vote of ToWn Board: yes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and ~rathwohl; Jmstices ~uthill and.
