Dear Mr. Fischetti:
In response to your letter dated November 21, 2023, the Board of Trustees reviewed
your request to cut down the trees that are problematic and shown in photographs
provided by you, which trees are located within 100' of the wetlands on the above-
mentioned property. This request was reviewed by Trustee Elizabeth Peeples.
The Board of Trustees determined that the three (3) requested trees may be removed,
noting that the "dead trees leaning into the water" should only be close cut to the stump
and the roots to remain to prevent further erosion and environmental impact. The three
trees should be replaced one to one seaward of the house, with native hardwoods of a
2-3" caliper.
Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office.
This is not a determination from any other agency.

Dear Southold Trustees,
I am requesting permission to remove 3 problem trees on my creek-front property (Richmond Creek).
As you can see from Photo 1, 1 have several trees on my property. One wild cherry tree (left of Photo 1) is
twisted and growing into my cedar tree. An arborist pointed out that the base of this cherry tree is rotting
(Photo 2), which will eventually kill the tree.
In addition, there are 2 completely dead tree leaning at the edge of creek that are poised to fall into the water
(Photo 3). When they fall, they will be difficult to remove.
I am requesting a permit to remove the twisted cherry and the two dead water-leaning trees. You have my
permission to visit the property to examine the trees in question. My address is:
