Albertson at Greenport, on Tuesday, January 10, 1961, at 1:30 R~M. with the following present: sUPervisor Albertson; Councilman De~arest-; Justices Tuthill and Clark.; supt. of Highwa~ Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by~ustice Tuthill: RESOLVED= That the minutes of the meeting of December 30, 1960,~' be and they are hereby dulY approved as read. Vote of Town ~oard: Ayes-SUPervisor Aibertson; 'Councilman D~marest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of January 3, 1961 be dispensed wit~at this time. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Sup~visor Albertson; Councilman Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. ~ . StanleyCorwin, Attorney for the Sunrise Coach Lines, spoke in behalf of the Coach Lines, stating the line had been in service for a n~mber of years and had been rendering good service to the people in ~he Town of Southold and requesting the Board to consider their Coach Line be- fore giving the L.I.R.R. a Franchise in the Town of Southold. Robert Brown, President of the coach Lines, also stated that ~is line wasl _' operating and giving good service to the people of the Town. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthiil: RESOLVED: Thattthe Town of Southold procure a Blanket Bond to cbve~ all TOWn Employees that are not covered by an individual bond. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson;Councilman Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, the Town Board held a Public hearing on December 6, 196~, for the purpose of considering a contract with the Village of Green- port for fire protection to be furnished by said Ui!lage to the East- West ~reenport Fire Protection District at which time all interested~ persons were given an opportunity to be heard, and WHEREAS, the Town Board deems it in the public interest ~o enter into a contract with said Village , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the TOWn of Southold enter into a contract with the-Village of Greenport for fire protection t~ be furnished by said ~illage to the East-West Greenport Fire PrOtection District in 'the Town of Southold for a term of five years Commencing on January 1, 1961, and that for such protection the Village of Green- port receive the following sums annually, to wit:- 1961- $6,765.46; 1962-$7,025.46; 1963-$7,285.46; 1964-$7,545.46; 1965-$7,805.46, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sUPervisor be and he hereby is aUthor- ized and directed to execute such contract on behalf of the Town of Southold. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That Walter F. Griffin, Sr. be engaged under contract to provide a mail transfer and haulag, e service for the FiShers Island Ferry District for a period from January 1,1961 through December 31~ 1961 inclusive, in accordance with the terms and conditions of-t~e' contract submitted by the Board Of commissioners, and be it further RESOLVED: That the effective date of s~ch service shall be One Hundred Fifteen ($115.00) Dollars per month, payable monthly. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Co~ncilman Demarest: WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners .of the Fishers Island Ferry District has bycontract retained the firm of Johnson and Williams, Public Accountants, of 774 Broad Street, Waterford, Conn..to perfoz-m auditing and accounting service for said District effective January 1, 1961 to December 31, 1961, at the annual fee of ~$900.00 to be paid quarterly, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Sou~hold Town Board approves said contract. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Alber. tson; Councilman Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. M6~by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the report of the Auxiliary Police for the month of December be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; -WHEREAS, the Burton Potter Post ~185 American Legion has applied to the Town Board for a Bingo License, and WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined the application and after invest- igating-the matter, duly made findings and determinations as required by Iaw,-~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is:authorized and directed to execute on behalf of this Board the findings and determinations required by law, and it is further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to issue a Bingo License to the Burton Potter Post ~185. Moved:by J~tice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the.regular monthly meeting of the Town board will be held et the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson, 16 South Street, Greenport, ~New York, on Thursday,.-January 26, 1961, at 7:30 PiM. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by JuStice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Bond Np. 73-S-1167, issued by the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company in the name of Henry Brewster Fawcon in the sum of $4000.00 be and the-same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties therein. Vote of~Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justices Tuthill: WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Highways has advised the Town Board that the extremely heavy snowstorm which occurred on December llth and 12th, 1960, required extraordinary and extensive snowplowing oper- ations to be performed by the Highway Department over a period of several days thereafter and that during such emergency it was necessary that additional Snowplow blades be purchased without delay to replace snowplow blades worn out or damaged during such emergency operations, and WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Highways has also advised the Town Board that he deemed it.imperative that new snowplow blades be purchased immediately in order to prevent the interruption of snow removala operationsand accordingly purchased from the Mutual Steel Company new snowplow blades for the sum of $971.71 and has requested that the Town Board ratify such purchase and approve ~%the payment thereof.. NOW, '~'~:REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board does hereby deem such pruchase by the Supt. of Highways to be in all respects proper and does hereby ratify such action of the Supt. of Highways and does hereby approve the payment thereof. Moved by Justice Clark; sedonded by councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: that the Superintendent of Nighways of the Town of SouthOld be authorized to advertise for bids and purchase' from the lowest_ responsible bidder, the following tires and tubes: 10-10.00 x 20 - lO-ply tires and tubes 2 - 6.50 x 16 - 6- ply tires 2 - 7.50 x 20 - 12-ply tires 2 - 9.00 x 14 - 4 ply tires ~. 2 - ~.00 x 20 - 10-ply tires 1 - 6.50 x 16 - 6 -ply tire and tube 2- 9.00 x 14 - 4 -ply tubeless Vote of Town Board: Ayes- supervisor Albertson; councilman Demarest: Justices Tuthill 'and Clark. ~ Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tmthill: ~ RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of December be ~acce~ted by the Town Board and placed on file. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That~the probationary appointment of James P. Mell, as, Police Patrolman (Constable) of the TOWn of Southold be changed to permanent appointment effective on January 10, 1961. vote of TOWn Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Counoilman Demares.t~. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $6,491.-85; Lighting-~ District Bills in the. amount of $2,391.67; Fishers Island Ferrly District Bills in the amount of $7,380.33 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. ~ote of Town board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Demarest~ Justices Tuthill and"Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice clark: W~EREAS, the Superintendent of Nighways has advised the Town Board that the D 6 Tractor is in Reed of repair, NoW, TNEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board ~oes hereby approve of the necessary repairs to'be made to said D 6 Tractor.
